Last week, LCF joined entrepreneurs, advocates, policymakers, philanthropists, and community leaders from across California for CAMEO’s Advocacy Day. We were proud to host the kick-off reception with remarks from our Chief Innovation Officer and help create a space for connection and community building before a day of advocacy at the State Capitol.

We left Sacramento hopeful.

Hopeful because Latino entrepreneurs continue to create jobs, strengthen communities, and drive economic growth. Hopeful because in a time of uncertainty, our community partners and allies are committed to building an economy that works for everyone. Hopeful because advocates and policymakers are working together to build an economy that works for everyone.

At LCF, we know economic power and civic power go hand in hand. Building a flourishing future requires investing in entrepreneurs and workers while advancing policies that expand opportunity and remove barriers to success.

From access to capital and small business support to workforce development and immigrant inclusion, the conversations with the CAMEO Network of leaders reminded us that our challenges are interconnected—and so are our solutions.

We are grateful to stand alongside so many leaders committed to strengthening California’s small business ecosystem and expanding opportunity for all.

What a joyful way to kick off the week!

Yesterday, members from across our Latino Giving Circle Network, came together for our first-ever Philanthro-¿Qué? —an immersive experience into the values, culture, and community that shape LCF’s approach to collective giving, collective impact, and people-powered philanthropy.

The evening was filled with connection, learning, and culture as Latino Giving Circle members and friends explored the values that drive all of LCF’s work: trust, family & unity, leading from a place of strength, hope, change not charity and joy. Through personal stories, these values become a pathway towards the philanthropy we need to meet the moments facing our community today and to build a flourishing Latino future.

Together, we raised $22,000 in two hours to support our 2026–2027 Latino Nonprofit Accelerator leaders—organizations dedicated to serving, protecting, organizing, and unleashing the power within immigrant communities.

As people across the country followed the results of various primary elections this week, we are reminded that democracy depends on every community having a voice—and every vote being protected.

Voting rights are under attack and must be defended. California, long at the forefront of voting rights innovation, has an opportunity to lead by strengthening safeguards that ensure every community can fully participate in our democracy.

Building a flourishing future requires civic power. It requires protecting the freedom to vote, expanding access to the ballot box, and ensuring communities can elect representatives who reflect their voices, needs, and aspirations.

Read our latest op-ed in CalMatters.org on why California must do more to protect voting rights and strengthen our democracy for generations to come.

The state's Voting Rights Act transformed democracy. With these rights suddenly facing new threats, California cannot remain idle.

Today, the Latino Community Foundation is proud to announce a new $350,000 round of investments through our Community Protection Fund to support grassroots organizations protecting immigrant families from detention, deportation, and family separation. Our Community Protection Fund is a national philanthropic initiative launched earlier this year to strengthen accountability and oversight of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and protect immigrant families harmed by abusive and unconstitutional government actions.

This grantmaking comes at a pivotal moment, as Congress debates tens of billions of dollars in new immigration enforcement funding, raising concerns among advocates about the expansion of detention and deportation infrastructure, and the one-year anniversary of the June 6, 2025 ICE raids in Los Angeles, which sparked national outrage and renewed scrutiny over federal immigration enforcement practices.

Since launching earlier this year, the Community Protection Fund has now invested $600,000 in 16 organizations across five states advancing legal representation, rapid response, advocacy, and direct community support.

We remain committed to supporting our community partners and ensuring families have the resources and support they need to stay safe and together.

If you are a California resident and eligible to vote, vote today and let your voice be heard!

Today, June 2, Californians have the opportunity to make their voices heard at the ballot box. For Latino communities, voting is one of the most powerful ways we shape the future of our neighborhoods, our economy, our schools, and our democracy. When we vote, we help ensure our communities are seen, heard, and represented—and we strengthen the foundation of a multiracial democracy that works for everyone.

California is home to nearly 16 million Latinos. Our participation matters—not only for the future of our state, but for the future of our nation. The leaders and policies we help shape here often influence what happens across the country. A flourishing Latino future is one where our communities are fully represented, fully engaged, and fully empowered to participate in our democracy.

isn’t something that happens to us. It’s something we build together.

We’re proud to celebrate the opening of Comité de acción del valle,INC.’s new office in Brawley, a major step forward in expanding resources, advocacy, and environmental education for farmworker communities across the Imperial Valley. 🌱

This new space will help connect residents with information about pollution, climate change, and environmental justice while creating opportunities for community members to organize and lead. Farmworker communities are too often on the frontlines of environmental harm, and investments in trusted, community-rooted organizations like Comité de Acción del Valle are essential to building a flourishing Latino future.

Congratulations to the entire Comité de Acción del Valle team on this important milestone and for continuing to champion the health and power of local communities.

Last week, the Latino Community Foundation met with California Governor Gavin Newsom and Speaker of the Assembly, Rivas, to discuss budget priorities that reflect the needs and aspirations of Latino communities across California. From economic opportunity to immigrant support and community safety, these conversations are critical to ensuring Latino families are seen, heard, and invested in.

As Latino communities continue to shape the nation’s future, we remain committed to advocating for policies and investments that build long-term prosperity, strengthen civic power, and create a flourishing future for generations to come.

The Latino Community Foundation is proud to celebrate two of our incredible community partners, 805 UndocuFund and Pasadena Community Job Center (National Day Laborer Organizing Network), for being named 2026 Nonprofits of the Year by California Association of Nonprofits. This recognition is a reflection of their unwavering commitment to serving communities with compassion and courage.

As trusted partners in our California Disaster and Wildfire Relief efforts, both organizations have been on the frontlines supporting families impacted by devastating disasters across the state. From providing emergency assistance and resources to standing alongside immigrant and working-class communities during moments of crisis, their leadership continues to make a lasting difference for Californians who need it most. We are honored to partner with organizations that lead with humanity and community at the center of everything they do.

We are deeply grateful for the work of 805 UndocuFund and Pasadena Community Job Center (NDLON). Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for helping us build a flourishing Latino future.

The Latino Community Foundation is filled with joy as we announce our 2026-2027 Power Accelerator cohort! 💛

For the first time, we are bringing together our Latino Nonprofit Accelerator and Latino Capital Accelerator under one umbrella — our Power Accelerator - uniting 12 incredible organizations across California and Arizona that are building Latino civic and economic power in their communities. Over the next 18 months, cohort members will participate in coaching, leadership development, and collective learning experiences that will help their organizations flourish.

At a time when the Latino community is navigating the compounding injustices of escalating attacks on immigrants, economic uncertainty, and ongoing threats to our dignity and safety, Power Accelerator leaders are unleashing community power to boldly assert our shared humanity and rights. Strong, community-rooted organizations are essential to protecting our communities, advancing opportunity, mobilizing participation, and ensuring Latino voices help shape the future of our country.
