Thank you AAJA Los Angeles & The California Endowment for this creative way to get moving and learn about fitness and AANHPI health!
During this “story walk”, I was humbled to be part of a panel with two personal trainers as we discussed the importance of self-care and fitness for ourselves and caregivers, pressing AANHPI health issues, current AANHPI research study opportunities, & ways journalists can bring light to these important topics in the media. I am deeply grateful for Gita Amar & Maneeza Iqbal for being gracious hosts and all the planning it took to make this event possible. Thanks also to everyone who participated in the walk! ❤️

Today, Dr. Javier and team members Kyra and Noelani had the opportunity to attend the Southeast Asian Support Group Picnic at the San Gabriel/Pomona Regional Center.

We had a lovely time sharing about our FFHI work and about CARE Registry with the families in attendance! Special thanks to Cristina Macasaet for inviting us to attend. ❤️🇵🇭

Last Saturday, Dr. Joyce Javier spoke at the Waves of Change: Voice of Pacific Islander in partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. held at Carson Library. The events' goal was to increase awareness about the mental health services offered by LACDMH to the Filipino community, as well as create a safe space for community members to share their experiences and their hopes for increased mental health supports within the community.

The conversation brought together community members, LACDMH, and local leaders, including Carson City Councilmember and former Mayor of Carson Jim Dear, a representative from the office of Carson Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes, and former Artesia Mayor and current Los Angeles County Behavioral Health Commission Chair Victor Manalo.

A very special thanks to Rosario Ribleza for organizing and inviting our team to this event, and allowing us to share about the work we do within our community!

We are so proud to share that one of our FFHI alum, Paul Leo Cunanan Paul Leo Cunanan has started his journey to becoming a physician at the Touro College of Medicine! Congratulations Paul on your recent white coat ceremony. Your legacy in FFHI lives on in the many Filipino Family Health Initiative team members you have trained and the countless Filipino families and youth you have served. Paul is pictured here with his proud father, mother, and wife! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you. ❤️🩺

Grateful for those who came to visit the Alta exhibit A Human Atlas at the Glendale Central Library! The exhibit reminds us that love is all around us ❤️ Thanks especially to my Filipino Family Health Initiative team members, our incredible FFHI families, fellow board members from Filipino Cultural School and last but not least my own family for sharing this special exhibit with me. I would not be where I am today without all of your support!
