This Saturday is our biannual Louis Sutter playground clean up day. We've been doing this clean up for over 15 years. It's been very rewarding. We used to have to jump in the lake and pull weeds and garbage wearing waders and then run home and shower. Luckily those days are long gone. We'll just be doing some light pruning and cleaning around the lake and of course sprucing up our playground. It's a potluck this year instead of a picnic but there's tons of snacks and drinks provided to everyone by the Grocery Outlet at Silver avenue. Come on by and say hello. Maybe hang out for a little while and feel good about how beautiful and how lucky we are to have McLaren Park in our neighborhood.

I am a Crocker Amazon based musical artist and this concert is a culmination of a grant I received from SF Arts Commission. Cantos do Povo: the Music of Milton Nascimento is a multigenerational tribute to this important and inspiring composer, and the performers are Jeff Cressman on trombone, Natalie Cressman on voice & trombone, Ian Faquini on guitar, Murray Low on keyboards, Dillon Vado on drums, David Belove on bass, Ami Molinelli Hart on percussion, yours truly on voice; Julianna Cressman choreography and dance, Molly Levy, dance, and Samara Atkins dance. This part of the year is usually beautiful in SF, so bring your picnic and beverages and come out to Jerry Garcia Amphitheatre in McLaren Park. All female-identifying salsa band Agua Pura will do an opening set. Paulo Presotto is emcee! Please mark your calendars:)

Please watch this short video of the restoration of a mural in McLaren Park at the Peru/Burrows Street playground. This was Help McLaren Park's first project in McLaren installed about 15 years ago. A big thank you to the artist Arthur Koch for his amazing work.

Shrey Purohit and I restored a mural in McLaren Park for about a month. We are having an in-person art reception Sept 15th 2022 from 5-7 on the second floor ...

WARNING: Aggressive coyote behavior in tai chi area of park. I'm in the park every morning, and coyotes are a familiar sight, but today was different. It was scary.

I was with my leashed dog around 7:30 am on the paved footpath that leads up the hill from McNab lake. A family of coyotes, presumably protecting their den, approached us, and for almost a minute one of them made aggressive "air bites" at my dog from just inches away. I shouted and tried to throw stones at the coyote, but it seemed fearless. In the background, I saw two other adult coyotes closely watching.

The photo is not mine, but it looked the same. My dog is a healthy 55lbs, so the coyote wasn't hunting for food.

I eventually got away from them, but by the tai chi court, I saw all three of them emerge from the woods and it felt like they were stalking us. This continued across the grassy area all the way to John Shelley Drive. They then sat and watched us as I went to the JGA parking lot, where there were other people and dogs.

I'd advise all dog owners to stay away from the area for the short term. Having your dog on leash doesn't help.
