Thank you to Pacific Gas and Electric Company for a day that meant a lot to The Richmond Neighborhood Center.

Thank you for your sponsorship and for staying to work alongside our staff. Volunteers sorted produce and packed groceries for our Home Delivered Groceries program. Back-to-school week is here in San Francisco. Families gathered outside schools before the doors opened, teachers laid out supplies for the morning, and our teams settled in for a new year.

Each year, our school-based enrichment programs serve more than 3,000 students, and our Youth Workforce Development programs support over 160 high schoolers across 12 school sites.

The first day back looks different at every school. What stays consistent is our presence in classrooms and in the community, alongside the students and families we work with.

Yesterday closed out Fall Conference 2026 at The Richmond Neighborhood Center. Day two moved from full-group sessions into working conversations in smaller teams. Staff named the values they want to bring into the new program year, from growth and connection to stewardship and empathy. Mixed teams used a shared framework to work through real challenges we face, defining the problem, weighing solutions, aligning on an approach, and naming who owns what comes next. And staff reflected together on what to keep, what to start, and what to leave behind. Groups worked across meeting rooms and out in the courtyard at Goody Cafe, connecting across programs and roles. Two days of shared learning, planning, and connection now carry us into the new program year. One Team. One Mission. Our Team. Our Mission.

Today marked day one of Fall Conference 2026 at The Richmond Neighborhood Center. Over 80 staff members from every program area came together for two days of learning, collaboration, reflection, and connection as we prepare for the new program year.

The theme this year is One Team. One Mission. Our Team. Our Mission. Sessions covered how we show up for each other, what each staff member contributes that colleagues rely on, and program updates including the Family Resource Center. And it was a chance for staff who work across different sites and programs to be in the same room, meet new colleagues, and reconnect with familiar ones.

Day two runs tomorrow. Thank you to every staff member here and to the leadership team guiding the two days.

Our Chief Strategy Officer, Cliff Yee, joined PG&E at their table today for the San Francisco Business Times & Silicon Valley Business Journal Corporate Philanthropy Awards and Summit, alongside community partners PG&E supports across the Bay Area.

The conversation between Fred Blackwell of the San Francisco Foundation and Nicole Taylor of Silicon Valley Community Foundation stood out. They spoke about building civic infrastructure so people have places to gather and engage thoughtfully across differences, and about the need for cross-sector collaboration, with nonprofits providing essential services that communities depend on.

Both ideas describe what we do every day. For 45 years, The Richmond Neighborhood Center has been a gathering place for families, youth, and neighbors in the Richmond District. And the programs that make that possible, from after-school and summer camps to food security and family services, are sustained by partnerships with funders like PG&E.

The Heart of the Richmond District Night Market returned to Clement Street this past. Between 22nd and 25th Avenue, families gathered for lion dance, ballet, traditional Chinese dance, live music, food, small business vendors, and community organizations.

One night left in the 2026 series. Come out on August 15 from 4 to 8 PM for the final night market of the summer. Free and open to all.

This year's event was organized in collaboration with Agape Community Center, Asian Family Support Center, Civic Joy Fund, Community Youth Center of San Francisco, Clement Street Merchants Association, Geary Merchant Association, Gum Moon, the Office of Supervisor Connie Chan, Richmond District YMCA, Richmond Review, San Francisco Department of Early Child Development, Self Help for the Elderly, and SF SDA Chinese Church.

More than 100 neighbors joined us at Sweet Mango Dessert & Cafe on Sunday for Boba with a Cop.

The idea behind the event is simple. Bring community members and officers together in an informal setting where real conversations can happen. Over boba, that's what we saw. Neighbors got to know the officers from SFPD Richmond Station, and several told us afterward that the event helped them feel more connected to the people who serve the Richmond District.

Sweet Mango Dessert & Cafe's owner told us that seeing so many neighbors and officers together at the shop created a welcoming atmosphere they were grateful to be part of.

Boba with a Cop was co-organized by The Richmond Neighborhood Center and SFPD Richmond Station, with support from the SF Police Community Foundation. Thank you to Sweet Mango Dessert & Cafe for hosting, to the officers who spent the afternoon with us, and to every neighbor who came out.

One City Day at The Richmond Neighborhood Center. Volunteers spent the morning clearing brush, pulling ivy, and refreshing the garden that welcomes families and neighbors through our doors every week.

More than 200 people are on the waitlist for our food pantry. Demand is up about 10 percent this year.

CNN reported those numbers this week in a story on how AI is fueling economic growth in San Francisco while many families fall behind. Yves Xavier from The Richmond Neighborhood Center spoke about what he sees in the Richmond District.

Food security is one part of what we do. Every week, we work with kids after school, with teens preparing for their first jobs, with older adults getting groceries at home, and with families balancing school, work, and rent. The same economic pressures show up across all of it.
