Graze the Roof

Graze the Roof Glide youth and volunteers from throughout the Bay Area maintain the garden and host monthly tours and workshops.

Graze the Roof is an edible, community-produced vegetable garden on the rooftop of Glide Memorial Church, a progressive church and nonprofit located in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco. Graze the Roof features low-cost, and up-cycled, lightweight garden beds made from milk crates and buckets, a worm composting system, fruit trees, herbs, flowers, vegetables, a bee hive and an educational mural telling the story of the project.

Friends, Allies, Urban Agriculture Enthusiasts...Graze the Roof is closed for some much needed rooftop renovations. There are lots of exciting plans on the horizon for a reimagined, innovative and delicious rooftop garden come spring of 2015.

All volunteer opportunities are currently on hold. We'll be back in touch come spring when lots of support will be necessary to bring Graze the Roof back to life!

Best day in the garden ever!

This rooftop garden brunch on July 20th was a fundraiser for Graze the Roof 2.0, a major renovation that will commence in January 2015. GTR 2.0 will bring a redesigned, re-imagined approach to urban rooftop container gardening, including integration of aquaponics, a lightweight greenhouse, more vertical gardens and more!

The lovely brunch featured gorgeous dishes by Feastly Cook Caetie O.:
Radish tartines with herb butter Chamomile-lavender sparkling tonic with lemon sorbet floater Spicy nasturtium + rooftop greens salad Four onion fritatta with edible flowers, chevre + huacatay pesto Roasted carrots + fennel fronds Mentuccia biscuits with preserved lemon honey Cream tarts with wild alpine strawberries
