Healing happens in community, and sometimes that starts simply by getting the right people around the same table.

Yesterday, Project Healing Waters leaders from across Northern California came together with our friends from Sisters on the Rise to connect, share ideas, and continue strengthening the community serving Veterans throughout the region.

“So grateful to spend the morning with our PHW NorCal leaders! Their teamwork is accelerating healing for our participating Veterans and we are all so appreciative.” – Jim Knowlton, CEO, Project Healing Waters

Representing our Martinez, Monterey, Sacramento, San Francisco, and NorCal Sisters on the Rise communities were Brian Miller, Connie Louie-Handelman, Jim Knowlton, Chris Clayton, Henry Little, Ron Lehman, AJ Hurford, Chris Saito, David Lipscomb, and Brian Steckler.

For Brian Miller, the morning was another reminder of what can happen when people committed to the same mission have an opportunity to come together.

“What an incredible healing vibe to have Jim sit down together with our PHW NorCal leaders and Sisters on the Rise liaisons ... powerful memories that will last!” - Brian Miller, Program Lead, PHW Martinez

We’re grateful for the time together, the conversations shared, and most importantly, the people who continue showing up for Veterans across the country.

What’s your favorite fishing knot? Learning how to efficiently tie knots on the river is an important skill that we teach in our classes. SF vets practiced their best knots and we tested them to see how they held up. The best knot was tied by Joe which broke at 6.1 pounds on 4x tippet! His favorite is the trilene knot. Congrats to Joe and the other vets! Golden Gate Angling & Casting Project Healing Waters San Francisco
