The Freedom Story We prevent child exploitation in Thailand through educational scholarships and additional resources for children at risk.

The Freedom Story was born from a documentary film called The SOLD Project. When our founder Rachel Sparks learned about child s*xual exploitation in Thailand, she decided to expose it through the power of film. After interviewing dozens of s*x workers, common themes became apparent: poverty, a lack of education, and a lack of options. Rachel responded by providing a scholarship to an at-risk student, and The Freedom Story was born. Our scholarships and resources empower at-risk Thai students to stay in school, pursue their dreams, and break the cycle of poverty. Our efforts in the US are centered around telling dignifying stories that encourage people to become a part of changing our world for the better.

We partnered with the Chiang Rai Primary Education Office to train students on how to stay safe online and prevent human trafficking.

After the two-day camp, students can now pass on what they learned to friends and younger peers in their schools.

Last week, alongside IOM - UN Migration, we hosted a training for 40 migrant volunteers in Chiang Rai.

They learned about labor protection laws, worker’s rights, online safety and case referral.

But more importantly they learned how to share this information with others. They learned how to advocate for workers rights and build community protection networks.

Migration is a human right. Protecting the rights of migrants is essential to ending human trafficking and exploitation.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to help with the emergency flood relief in Nan province!

Our community of donors provided above and beyond what our team could have expected. Because of this generosity our team is now able to help more than 130 families recover!

Not only that, but doing this work has been an opportunity for our staff in Nan to build better relationships with other NGOs and government agencies to built protective networks that will last into the future.

At The Freedom Story, our scholarship students aren’t seen first as beneficiaries. We see their full potential as people who can transform their own lives, their schools and in their communities!

The children we serve are writing new freedom stories in their homes, schools, and neighborhoods. They are working with our staff and our donors to ensure that every child can live a life marked by freedom instead of exploitation.

Last week, devastating floods swept through Nan Province, where our office and some of our scholarship students live.

The floods impacted more than 30,000 people, including 130 vulnerable families we know.

Our generous community of donors stepped up to make sure that this crisis didn’t compound vulnerability to the point of heightened trafficking risk.

Thank you to everyone who rallied behind vulnerable families this weekend!

Thank you to our team on the ground providing emergency supplies, school readiness support and livelihood recovery.

We couldn’t do this without our amazing community of staff and donors!
