The Housing Action Coalition's 501(c)(4) is proud to endorse Marissa Roy for Los Angeles City Attorney!

Our SoCal team joined Marissa this past Monday to talk about her vision for the city -- along with Abundant Housing LA, CA YIMBY, pro-housers, and some new supporters who were waiting for a trivia night and eager to learn more.

Marissa shared a plan for what her first 100 days in office will look like, stories of legal battles won, and much-needed hope for many in the room who are working hard to bring more housing to Los Angeles. 💫

For the past 15 years as a City Councilmember, Mayor, and County Supervisor, Eric has championed housing in the North Bay, including ownership opportunities with Habitat for Humanity, affordable apartments for transitional age foster youth, and homes for unhoused veterans. There's no single fix for our housing affordability crisis. It takes financing, philanthropy, and policy pulling in the same direction — and that's exactly what JPMorgan Chase is doing through its American Dream Initiative.

The Housing Action Coalition is proud to be one of the organizations they're backing to improve housing affordability across the country.

Because an affordable future starts in the fine print, in the building codes and the layers of rules that quietly drive up the cost of every home.

Thank you, JPMorgan Chase, for investing in HAC and a more affordable future. It's clear they understand what we've long known: this crisis comes down to supply. By investing in HAC, they're tackling that problem head-on and fueling the grassroots work we do every day to build a future with more housing for everyone.

San Francisco just approved its first housing project under the Family Zoning Plan — an 8-story condo building in the Inner Richmond! 🏗️

This is exactly what rezoning is supposed to do: turn good policy into homes that San Franciscans desperately need. HAC supported the Family Zoning Plan because we know the only way to make SF affordable for the next generation is to build more housing.

One project won't solve our housing shortage. But it's proof the pipeline works — and there's more coming!

HAC is all in for the affordable housing bond on the November 2026 ballot. 🏠🗳️

Last week, Governor Newsom and the Legislature reached an agreement to place an $11.25 billion housing affordability bond on the ballot this November — a historic investment in California's housing future.

The Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond Act of 2026 (SB 417) will:
🔨 Accelerate construction, rehab, and preservation of affordable housing
🏡 Expand homeownership programs
💰 Deliver resources to communities that have long needed them

Thank you to Assemblymember Buffy Wicks and Senator Christopher Cabaldon for championing this measure.

Let's win this in November. 🙌

We'll say it again for the people in the back: A law is only as good as its implementation ‼️

And right now, we are facing major barriers to the proper implementation of SB 79. This isn't just wrong — it sets a dangerous precedent.

SB 79 is one of the most powerful housing tools California has passed in years — but cities aren't just rolling over. They're delaying, excluding, and working around it.

HAC has been at hearings, we've sent letters to city councils, and we're filing formal complaints with HCD about cities that fail to properly follow the law.

Here's what we're seeing on the ground — and why it matters. Read more here: https://buff.ly/kRAZdRw
