🎉We are excited to announce Jessica Ramirez as JWJ’s new Executive Director!🎉

Jessica brings more than 14 years of experience in the labor movement, working at the intersection of worker organizing, electoral politics, and coalition building. Most recently, she served as Assistant Director of Political and Community Organizing at the National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW), where she led statewide political strategy and helped develop and grow the union’s political program.

Jessica believes working people should have a meaningful voice in shaping the policies and decisions that affect their lives, their workplaces, and their communities.

Outside of work, Jessica is a proud mom to a teenager who shares her love of running, and she enjoys hiking Bay Area trails with her two dogs.

Palantir is the real-life evil corporation that makes all other evils possible: Its AI-powered surveillance and data analysis fuels ICE murders, mass deportation and detention, the U.S.’ illegal wars, and Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Palantir apps have allowed ICE to imprison more than 500 babies and 6,200 children, generating outrageous reports of abuse and suffering. At the same time, Palantir partners with health care corporations to reap profits by automating unsafe staffing in our hospitals.

Today we were back at City Hall to call on our mayor and supervisors to maintain full funding for Free City so that SF residents can continue to access higher education and achieve our dreams!

Community & labor fought to make City College free and we won. Voters approved a tax to fund the program. Now proposed cuts would violate a 10-year commitment signed by the city.

Yesterday we heard from dozens of students about how Free City changed their lives and made SF a better place. We won’t lose this amazing program that makes SF better for working class residents!
