The 49th MMB Army Reserve Unit from Puerto Rico stopped by the USO at SFO before heading to Fort Hunter Liggett for their annual training. In less than an hour and a half, our volunteers served meals to more than 40 Soldiers with the speed and precision of a Chick-fil-A lunch rush, all while delivering the first-class hospitality that has become synonymous with San Francisco International Airport (SFO), consistently recognized as one of the world's best airports.
Volunteers Ed, John, Mary Ann, and Barry were a well-coordinated team, greeting guests, preparing food, restocking beverages, and keeping the line moving so efficiently that most Soldiers had a hot meal in hand within minutes. Despite the fast pace, every guest was welcomed with a smile and had the opportunity to relax and recharge before continuing their journey.
What makes it even more meaningful is that every meal, snack, beverage, and amenity is provided completely free of charge. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, community partners like Chick-fil-A Millbrae Station and countless individuals and organizations who believe in the USO's mission, our service members experience more than just a meal. They receive a warm welcome, genuine appreciation, and a reminder that their service is valued long before they reach their destination.
This is what the USO does best. Whether serving one traveler or an entire military unit, our volunteers stand ready to provide comfort, care, and a taste of home, making every visit to the USO at SFO as memorable as the journey ahead. Outstanding job!
