Cloud Native Computing Foundation

Cloud Native Computing Foundation CNCF is part of The Linux Foundation.

Cloud native computing uses an open source software stack to deploy applications as microservices, packaging each part into its own container, and dynamically orchestrating those containers to optimize resource utilization. The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) hosts critical components of those software stacks including Kubernetes and Prometheus; brings together the industry’s top developers, end users, and vendors; and serves as a neutral home for collaboration.

The strength of the cloud native community goes beyond the code.

It's built on people helping each other learn and grow. CNCF Ambassador Prithvi Raj shares why community contribution is the true foundation of open source.

CNCF Ambassador Atulpriya Sharma shares how platform teams can apply the CNCF Platform Engineering Maturity Model to transition from standard toolchains to genuine self-service.

Many organizations build golden paths and developer portals, only to realize their platform engineers are still handling edge cases and exceptions manually. Standard tooling gives developers what the platform team anticipated, but self-service allows developers to move forward without a human standing in the loop.

This technical breakdown examines the four stages of platform interface maturity, highlighting why teams stall at standard tooling and how to parameterize golden paths, instrument common patterns, and eventually create integrated, ambient infrastructure.

OpenTelemetry now provides the universal language for observing non-deterministic AI agents.

During this keynote at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Japan, OpenTelemetry Governance Committee member and maintainer Alolita Sharma shared how the project is tackling the challenges of complex AI workflows.

By leveraging the GenAI semantic conventions, teams can describe and observe agentic ex*****on through a standardized schema.

A 3 AM production outage prompted two Golden Kubestronauts to build a CNCF-native predictive autoscaler for GPU workloads on Kubernetes.

Because GPU nodes take much longer to initialize drivers and firmware than CPU nodes, reactive HPA can leave clusters struggling to keep up during sudden traffic spikes.

Community contributors Ramkumar Nagaraj and Bingi Narasimha Karthik break down an open source approach using Prometheus telemetry and a forecasting controller to provision GPU capacity 10 minutes before demand actually hits.
