Dear Friends,
For twenty years, young people have been coming through a door opened in 2006 — first to do campaign work out of a garage in the Sunset, then through MaSquadCA, the internship program built from the Assembly District 12 Office, and from 2009 on in the Sunday mentor-leadership sessions in a union hall on Golden Gate Avenue that became PaceCoreCA. More than a thousand middle school, high school, college, and graduate students have come through this worthwhile work. Our mentor-leaders continue to thrive as young adults and professionals, contributing to communities throughout California and beyond.
In 2026, the IRS determined that PaceCoreCA is a bona fide 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 42-2284385). After two decades under fiscal sponsors, your gift now goes directly to PaceCoreCA and is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
We serve youth and young adults, ages 13 to 30, across the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. The program is youth-led by design: facilitated community conversations and peer learning, soft-skills training, workshops, and community-organizing projects that participants shape around needs they identify themselves. Over the years that has meant model legislatures, talent shows at the Pomeroy Center, exhibits at the California State Fair, a public service announcement for the Weaverville Joss House, helping save the bison herd in Golden Gate Park, voter registration drives, and outreach in Visitacion Valley and Alameda County.
Our vision is a California where all people have real power in shaping their future, where accountability is transparent, and where local communities know how to navigate systems and build networks that serve them. Our work toward it rests on five core values: Curiosity · Organization · Corazón · Grit · Fun.
Your investment pays for the basics — curriculum materials, equipment, transportation, food, and space to meet — and for the infrastructure that keeps a young organization accountable, including insurance and sound bookkeeping. Every dollar builds the next class of mentor-leaders.
Thank you for considering a gift.
Gung Ho Friends!
