Dean has been part of the Watsi community for years. And what we love most about his story is how giving has become something he shares with his kids, too.

What actually makes you want to show up for someone else?

We’ve been thinking about this a lot at Watsi, especially at a time when fewer people are giving, while more and more charitable giving comes from a very small number of donors.

We think generosity should belong to everyone.

So we wrote a little about why people give, what that means for global health, and how one small act can travel much further than you think.

Today, a small number of donors account for most charitable giving. But what happens when we imagine a different future? One where everyone has a role to play, and small acts of generosity create life-changing impact.

Who gives a… 👀
Turns out, a lot of people.
Teachers. Artists. Founders. Neighbors. Kids. People who believe someone else’s life matters, even if they’ve never met them.

This summer, we’re sharing stories from the Watsi community, of the people who show up, give what they can, and remind us that generosity belongs to all of us.

Meet Molly 👉 https://lnkd.in/eXmdRSAB
The first thing you notice about her is her strength!

But for years, she was living with a condition that made everyday life harder. Working, caring for herself, even the little things most of us don't think twice about.

And she's not alone.
Millions of women live with treatable conditions simply because the care they need is out of reach. They keep going anyway.

Molly did too.

Everything changed after her neighbors told her about Watsi.

When our team visited after her surgery, she greeted us with the biggest smile. She was back selling yellow bananas, staying active, and living life on her own terms again. 🍌✨

Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to partner with healthcare providers whose compassion, skill, and commitment continue to inspire us. Dr. Saqib Noor is one of them, and we’re grateful for the care he has given to so many patients in Cambodia. If you have a question you’ve always wanted to ask a surgeon or a healthcare team caring for Watsi patients before, during, or after surgery, leave it in the comments.💙

One act of kindness can travel further than you think. đź’™
Some time ago, the Watsi community helped fund Thu Ta’s heart surgery.

Today, deep in the jungles of Burma, he’s helping people who have nowhere else to turn for healthcare. 🌿🛶

That’s the beautiful thing about generosity. It doesn’t stop with one person.

Look at this little guy 🥹💙
Jordan is only six days old, but he’s already surrounded by people cheering him on. With a simple, proven treatment, he has the chance to grow up walking, playing, and chasing all the things kids love to do.

Will you join us in helping Jordan get started on this journey? 👉https://watsi.org/profile/a4b5d574f2ac-jordan

For families living through displacement, care often waits. Waiting for safety, stability and years for the healthcare they need. For Myo, that wait lasted five years, until our community showed up to support his care. đź’™

When health worries fade, life opens back up. đź’™

We’re so grateful for our community for making these moments possible. After months of discomfort from a hernia, 71-year-old Alice can finally look ahead with hope and rest peacefully knowing she received the care she needed.

Good health makes everything else possible.đź’™

When Pitou's mother first came to our medical partner, we're guessing football wasn't top of mind.

When your child needs surgery, life has a way of shrinking. Everything else can wait.

Now Pitou is back outside doing what kids do best! Finding a ball, finding friends, and staying out until someone calls them home.

Which also means his mom gets to think about everything else again.

This is the part we love most. This is what you make possible when you give on Watsi.
