Rhodessa Jones The Medea Project: Theater for Incarcerated Women/HIV Circle

Rhodessa Jones The Medea Project: Theater for Incarcerated Women/HIV Circle Theater for Incarcerated Women & Women Living with HIV In the words of Rhodessa Jones,
"In the Spirited Struggle, Life flows..."

Founded in 1989 by Rhodessa Jones, The Medea Project: Theater for Incarcerated Women/HIV Circle, uses theater as a vehicle for social activism and personal transformation. For more than 20 years, Rhodessa has used theater to explore issues specific to female inmates, such as guilt, depression, and self-loathing, which arose in response to feelings of failure in the face of community. Rhodessa curr

ently works with incarcerated women across the globe, including South Africa, Russia, Alaska and the Caribbean. In 2008, The Medea Project joined forces with UCSF's Women's HIV Clinic to create theater that explores what it means to be living with HIV in this day and age. Since 2008, The Medea Project: HIV Circle has performed shows all around the Bay Area, sharing the Truth and releasing the stigma of what it means to be female and living with the virus. Today, the Medea Project would like to reach out virtually to women all around the world to continue to break the silence and the stigmas around HIV. We have created a blog where we share our writings: http://www.medeaprojectdeepinthenight.blogspot.com

We hope you will share your stories with us as well. Together we will break through the stigmas
Together we will share our Truths
Together our voices will be heard.

The Medea Project is now accepting participants for "Life on the Swerve"; a new workshop taking place every Saturday at The Bayview Opera House from 10:30am - 1pm. Please pass this along to anyone interested to [email protected], or you can DM us here and we will get back to you shortly!

About the workshop: the workshop is an examination exploring the US heath care system's unjust discrepancies that affect women of color and black women disproportionately- this has been a medical issue for a very long time. Please bring your story, your hearts review to the workshop.

Please mark your calendars for our workshop performance on June 14th. There is a cr code on the flyer below for registration and tix.
