When people hear “student success,” they usually think:

🎓 Grades
🎓 Degrees
🎓 Job titles
🎓 Salaries

But our experience with students through SparkPoint Centers on college campuses, and our Youth Opportunities Pathways program tells us that student success isn’t just a finish line. It’s what happens before the degree.

It really looks like:

🏘️: Staying housed long enough to finish a semester
🥪: Having reliable access to food
😌: Reducing stress enough to think about the future

Sometimes, success is having just enough stability and support to choose your path—instead of letting crisis choose it for you. SparkPoint provided that stability for Unathi and Ryland. Visit https://okt.to/Oj2TrM to read more about their stories!

We have a core belief that economic circumstances aren’t indicators of ability, creativity, or worth. They are simply circumstances. Our friend and long-time donor, Dave Heacock, is on the same page,

"You know, you just have to make sure that you give back and that you stay engaged and realize that [no] system is [completely] fair,” he says. “But there are things that we can do to help people navigate [and] change their outcomes."

"...it’s really easy for us to sit in the bleachers and say, 'Oh, those kids these days need to do this." [But] you know, the world is different. It’s important to really understand the societal complexities that they have to navigate [now].

Dave joined us at a recent visit to SparkPoint at Cañada College where he observed firsthand how students are managing pressures that older generations rarely faced: AI transforming job markets, increasing living costs, and academic paths that feel more like mazes than ladders.

We are continuously grateful for his support. If you believe in this core belief like he does, we encourage you to consider giving today! Visit https://okt.to/0nBwHm to learn more about Dave's story and to give today!
