Foglifter is a LIVING archive for q***r and trans voices—now and always. 🌈

We believe in the transformative power of literature. We believe in q***r and trans stories as both urgent and enduring.

And we could use your help to keep cultivating sustainable spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ artists to thrive.

This June, we’re calling on our community to help us raise $5,500 to keep uplifting q***r and trans voices. You can help by making a gift—of any amount, starting at $5—or by sharing what Foglifter means to you far and wide.

2. Scrapbook page with the cover of Foglifter 11.1 taped to colored denim fabric (blue, pink, and white); an agenda that reads "PAID opportunities for Q***R & TRANS emerging writers. publish their work. teach workshops. serve as editors. read at events. Centering multimarginalized writers (BIPOC, youth, elders, and people with disabilities). A picture of Grayson Thompson is taped to the page. A vintage "Trans Pride / Trans Power" button. A dinosaur vomiting a rainbow cloud above the words LUV U FOGGIE. Foglifter and Give Out Day logos at the bottom.

ECOLOGY OF THE HOOD is the 2025 winner of the Start a Riot! Chapbook Prize, a collaboration between Foglifter Press and Still Here San Francisco (), an intergenerational cultural preservation project amplifying the voices and creativity of LGBTQ2S+ Black, Indigenous, and People of Color raised on the unceded, traditional land of the Yelamu Ohlone people.

2. Foglifter, Start a Riot!, and Still Here SF Logos. Header: "Winner of the 2025 Start a Riot! Chapbook Prize." Body: "Ecology of the Hood is a love letter to streets. It asks the question; What if the hood was not a collection of problems, but a complex ecosystem of living organisms, all mirroring the same survival against an inherently hostile world? The politics of environmentalism and Black Liberation collide with each other in cycles of extraction, survival, decay, and regeneration. This collection seeks to refute the idea that the rose growing from concrete is misplaced or forgotten. The gardens we grow belong here. They are proof of life in a world obsessed with our deaths."

3. Foglifter, Start a Riot!, and Still Here SF Logos. Headshot of Reggie Edmonds-Vasquez. Reggie Edmonds-Vásquez (they/them) is a poet, educator, and cultural curator from Richmond, CA. Their work explores Black, q***r, and gender-diverse identities and has earned recognition from Nomadic Press, Afro Urban Society, and the Museum of the African Diaspora. A two-time Berkeley Grand Champion and national finalist, they direct programming at Rich Oak Events. Their debut chapbook Ecology of the Hood (Foglifter Press) was selected for the 2025 Start a Riot! Chapbook Prize.]

2. Foglifter logo; "It's easier to believe there's an orderly program for how we mourn than to face what it is, in my opinion, our likelier circumstance, where everyone's grief is entirely unique to them, and not going anywhere. Grief settles, of course, and might be less distracting once it lands in your feet than it was when it was sitting behind your eyes, but it is not expelled, nor should we want it to be. Our grief changes us irrevocably." - Scott Broker, in conversation with Milo Todd.]
