Movie night is almost here and there are still a few tickets left.
This Thursday, May 28th, we're hosting our 5th Annual Night of Short Surf Flicks at The Balboa Theater in San Francisco. Doors open at 6:30pm, films kick off at 7:15pm.

This year's lineup features the work of seven local filmmakers: Perry Gershkow, Chelsea Woody, Lawrence Rickford, Nick Page, Caroline Losneck, Christoph Gelfand, and Sachi Cunningham. Each of them brings a distinct voice and a deep connection to the water. Together they've put together films that capture surfing from perspectives that don't always make it to the big screen.

After the screenings, the filmmakers and cast members will join us for a live Q&A.
Every ticket goes straight to the work of CSP: the surf days, the students, the moments that stick with a kid for life. Bay Area youth have paddled out for the first time because this community shows up.

We're also grateful to San Franpsycho, Patagonia, and Delicious Salt Bagels for donating to our raffle. Come ready to win something good. 🙏🏽

Last month, CSP Alumni Surf Coaches Jordan and Oscar, and Executive Director Johnny Irwin, traveled to Sacramento to participate in California Ocean Day, an annual lobbying event focused on protecting California's ocean and coastal resources.

It was a meaningful opportunity to advocate alongside the Surf Justice Collective (surfjusticecollective.org) and other organizations for causes central to our mission: equitable access to the coast and the long-term health of our ocean environment.

We also had the chance to meet with Assembly Member Matt Haney, a sign that the work CSP and our partners are doing is gaining real recognition.
Proud to be part of this community pushing for change. 🌊

We are so grateful to everyone who came out and supported our annual Golf Scramble on May 8th!

Thanks to the generosity of our players, sponsors, and community, we raised over $26,000, and we’re so close to hitting $30,000.

This event wouldn’t have been possible without two incredible groups of supporters.

Join us for a great night of live music with APE & DJ Otto on Saturday, May 16th, 8pm (Doors 7pm) at Cafe Du Nord! APE is a six-piece group from San Francisco and the only band in the world that features a live Tiki Carver. APE is donating a percentage of the night to CSP plus the APE Tiki that Crazy AL carves will be raffled off to one lucky winner to raise even more funds. This will be a ton of fun, let’s pack the place!

Hey past participants — this one's for you. 🌊

Applications are now open for our SILT program — Surf Instructors in Leadership Training!

As a SILT, you'll spend 6 weeks this summer at the beach as a junior surf instructor, earning a stipend while gaining hands-on leadership experience. The program includes First Aid/CPR and lifeguard training, and you'll work alongside CSP staff and Alumni Surf Coaches to help kids build confidence in the ocean.

This is a paid opportunity to grow your skills, give back to the community that shaped you, and spend your summer doing something that matters.

Open to former CSP Youth Surfing participants only. Apply by May 1.
