Community Spaces like JFK Promenade and Great Highway Park benefit San Franciscans by creating more public open space to build community while making our city more connected, healthy, and sustainable. They are also uniquely safe and accessible places for people with limited mobility and other disabilities.

Our Story

Remember the joy and independence you felt the first time you rode a bike? YBike began in 2002 when a Presidio YMCA member volunteered to teach kids how to ride bikes. We realized that bicycles are a fantastic tool to help youth grow, explore, and build community.

YBike now works with thousands of people each year, transforming San Francisco youth into skilled bicyclists, confident young adults, and outdoor adventurers. Our participants learn to safely navigate San Francisco streets while exploring their own communities and other parts of the city. YBike offers a range of bike education and traffic safety programs, including Bike PE, After School Earn-A-Bike Clubs, Learn-To-Ride Events, Girls Ride Club (GRC), and Summer Bike Camps.
