18 Reasons 18 Reasons is a nonprofit that increases food security through the power of home cooking. We offer two food education programs.

Through hands-on cooking classes, we empower our community with the confidence and creativity needed to buy, cook, and eat good food every day. At our 18th Street Kitchen in San Francisco, we host paid cooking classes with chefs from around the world, and ticket sales help support our free programming for low-income families. Through our Cooking Matters program, we offer grocery donations paired w

ith free cooking and nutrition classes to low-income families throughout the Bay Area. Our vision is to create equity and belonging through the transformative and healing power of home cooking.

We have so much to share!☀️ First up, our summer sale STARTS NOW! For a limited time, enjoy 20% off all July & August classes + memberships. Our summer classes tend to sell out fast, so we’d jump on it!

Our July & August class calendar just dropped and it’s a good one. Chef Gracie is back with her Simply Summer Series, celebrating the best of California summers. Beyond that, we have North Indian classics, Vietnamese seven-course beef, butchery workshops, cheese making, summer making, tofu classes, and so much more.

A true farm to table moment! is joining us at our 18th Street Kitchen on May 27th for a beautiful feast of bountiful seasonal produce to celebrate the release of the Full Belly Farm Cookbook!

Chef Gracie is cooking up a meal that features their food and we can’t wait to provide our community with the opportunity to break bread with the farmers themselves!

Menu highlights include tastings of new potatoes with Meyer lemon aioli, zucchini, and early summer allium purée, farm egg tagliatelle, peaches galore, slow-cooked lamb shanks, and fennel pollen ice cream… yes please!
