Save Midtown

Save Midtown We, 130 working-class families of Midtown Apartments are facing banishment from SF - our homes were stolen by Mercy Housing.

MidTown Park Apartments Western Addition Fillmore Community - 139 units - 300 people - San Francisco's Mayor's Office of Housing and Mercy increasing rents by over 300% commencing August 1, 2015. They are forcing tenants who have been under rent control for over 20 years during their tenancy, fixed income and working/moderate income tenants, to move out and by default out of San Francisco, due to

limited affordable housing. We need help with getting the word out over all media about this injustice. Any assistance will help.

Rest in Music RIM Bobbie "spider" Webb. Webb World Renowned Jazz Musician supported Save Midtown in our struggle for Just and Fair housing. Mr. Webb was generous with his talent at all our fundraisers and always gave the tenants at Midtown time on his KPOO Radio show. Bobbie supported us for over 3 years. Thank you our Brotha may you have Rest, Peace, Comfort, Love and Endless Music! This photo was taken at the Save Midtown Tenants Unity Concert just 2 months ago. As Bobbie jammed for over an hour after having played for hours at the Fillmore Jazz Festival. A Fillmore Jazz Legend, you will be missed.

Join the Tenants of Midtown as we celebrate our united struggle to gain ownership of our homes. Midtown was built for tenant ownership in 1964 to quail protests claiming racial cleansing of the Fillmore. 50 years later after 4,000 Blacks were displaced and 2500 homes destroyed during Urban Renewal, the Fillmore residents of Midtown are once again facing demolition and displacement. Musicians lead by Francisco Herrera and local talent are coming together to give support. Please come join the movement. Black Homes Matter.

It was a great rally - we submitted our petitions against demolition to Board of Supervisors clerk. Many thanks to SF Weekly for covering our action.

It’s unusual that San Francisco City Hall wants to tear down affordable housing during a housing crisis.
