California Girls State Alumnae Foundation (GSAF)

California Girls State Alumnae Foundation (GSAF) Official FB of ALA CAGS. All references to women/girls include gender-expansive individuals ❤️ Girls State delegates represent a cross-section of California.

The Girls State Alumnae Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation incorporated in the State of California for the purpose of promoting and supporting the American Legion Auxiliary California Girls State Program and California Girls State alumnae. Run entirely by volunteers, every dollar raised by the Foundation is used to further the Girls State experience and to empower the young women who

attend. American Legion Auxiliary California Girls State empowers young women. With prominent speakers and an accomplished staff, the program is designed to show delegates their unlimited potential for success. For many delegates, Girls State is the first opportunity they have had to interact with and learn from similarly high caliber young women from different cultural or socioeconomic backgrounds. Since 1938, the American Legion Auxiliary’s California Girls State Program has brought together a diverse group of young women for a week-long summer program focused on citizenship and government. Each of five hundred sponsored high schools may send only one delegate, selected on the basis of her strong academic performance, dedication to community service, and leadership potential. The Girls State Alumnae Foundation works to keep the alumnae of Girls State in contact and to encourage networking and interaction. For more information on how you can contribute to the Girls State Alumnae Foundation’s goals, please visit our donations page. Membership is open to any woman who has attended a California Girls State session in full, whether as a delegate or staff member. All members will receive the Girls State Alumnae Foundation yearly e-newsletter and periodic communications from the Foundation. The Girls State Alumnae Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation. All donations, via the internet or mail, are tax deductible. To make donations visit http://www.cagsaf.org/donate.html

Happy Juneteenth from ALA California Girls State!

Juneteenth, also referred to as Freedom Day, commemorates June 19, 1865, when news of emancipation reached enslaved people in Texas, marking the end of slavery in the United States. Today, we celebrate freedom, honor the resilience and achievements of Black Americans, and reflect on our nation’s continuing pursuit of liberty and equality ❤️💛💚

Happy Flag Day from ALA California Girls State! 🇺🇸

On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress adopted the first official flag of the United States. Nearly 250 years later, the American flag remains a symbol of the freedoms, opportunities, and democratic principles that unite our nation.

June 14 also marks the birthday of the United States Army, established in 1775. Today, as we prepare for the 83rd Session of ALA California Girls State, we honor both the flag that represents our nation and the generations of service members who have defended it ❤️🤍💙
