Every purple shirt, ribbon, and show of support is a reminder that awareness matters, survivors are not alone, and together, we can help build a community rooted in safety, support, and hope.

Thank you to Uber for hosting a powerful conversation with men, community leaders, Uber drivers and employees, and community partners about healthy manhood, culture, and safety—and the role we all have in creating safer communities.

Women account for approximately 90% of reported rideshare sexual assault victims, making it critical to have honest conversations about gender-based violence, the role of men in challenging harmful cultural norms, and the responsibility corporations have in creating safer environments.

We were proud to contribute to this important dialogue, share our perspective, and engage alongside participants in examining how individuals, communities, and companies can help prevent harm and build a culture of safety and accountability.

Because everyone deserves to feel safe and secure.

💌 Calling all volunteers!

Our End-of-Year Campaign is getting underway, and we could use a few extra hands to help us get our mailings ready to go!

Join us on Tuesday, October 20 from 3:30-5:30 PM to help stuff envelopes, write short messages of gratitude on donor cards, and get everything ready for the mail. 📬✨

We’re looking for 6-8 volunteers to join us for an afternoon of giving back, spreading gratitude, and helping our campaign come together!

We were honored to join Black Women Revolt Against Domestic Violence for their powerful Domestic Violence Awareness Month kickoff, Surviving to Thriving.

Hearing directly from survivors about the realities of leaving a violent relationship—and the often unseen impacts on safety, financial stability, and well-being—was a powerful reminder of why this work matters.

The event also brought together advocates, service providers, community leaders, and partners committed to preventing violence and creating safer communities. As District Attorney Brooke Jenkins shared, "breaking cycles of violence also means educating and engaging young people early."

At Community Forward SF, we’re proud to stand alongside survivors and our community partners in this work. We know that creating safety takes all of us—and that survivors deserve the support, stability, and opportunities to thrive.

Community Forward SF was excited to return for the 14th year to the Archdiocese of San Francisco’s Restorative Justice Ministry 2026 Reentry Conference & Expo! Our collaboration over the years has been incredibly meaningful, and we’re grateful to be part of this important day focused on reentry, second chances, workforce opportunities, and community support.

Rebecca Jackson, our VP of Reentry & Public Affairs, organized the panel “Breaking Barriers to Housing Access for Justice-Involved Women in San Francisco,” which explored the current landscape for women returning to San Francisco from the criminal legal system. The conversation brought together formerly incarcerated women, domestic violence advocates, housing specialists, and reentry service providers, including Stephanie Matthews, our Deputy Director of Women’s Services.

We extend a huge thank you to the Archdiocese of San Francisco for their leadership and for organizing such an impactful gathering dedicated to restoring hope, dignity, and opportunity for all. 💜

A powerful step forward for survivors. 💜

AB 1573, the Unseen and Unheard Act, has officially been signed into law, requiring cities and counties to plan for the housing needs of survivors of violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

At Community Forward SF, we’re proud to have worked alongside our coalition partners, advocates, and the bill’s authors, Assemblymember Isaac Bryan and Assemblymember Catherine Stefani, to help make this legislation a reality.

This is what collective action looks like: bringing survivors’ experiences to the forefront, raising our voices together, and working toward housing systems that recognize and respond to their needs.

💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month—a time to honor survivors and bring greater visibility to the experiences of those impacted by domestic violence.

Domestic violence can have lasting impacts on safety, health, housing stability, and the ability to build a future free from violence. At A Woman's Place, we see that connection every day: more than 50% of our guests have experienced domestic violence in the past year.

The domestic violence response system plays a critical role in helping survivors find safety and prevent homelessness. When those resources are overwhelmed or unavailable, AWP is part of the continuum of support—working alongside unhoused survivors toward safety, healing, stability, and home.

This month, we’re honoring survivors, raising awareness, and making sure the experiences of unhoused survivors are not overlooked.

We see them. We hear them. And together, we move forward.

We were so excited to return to the National Women’s Shelter Network’s 2026 Annual Conference in Tucson, Arizona! 💜

Our team joined hundreds of shelter leaders, advocates, national partners, and government stakeholders for three days of presentations, workshops, and conversations focused on advancing safety, stability, and opportunity for women, children, youth, and families experiencing homelessness.

Congratulations to Danielle Threadgill, Kerry Burns, Rebecca Jackson, and Sammie Rayner for representing Community Forward SF as panelists and moderators alongside so many incredible leaders from across the country. We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect, share ideas, and bring that collective wisdom back to our work here in San Francisco.

As Danielle shared:
“NWSN reminded me how powerful it is to come together in community. I left inspired by new ideas around fundraising and storytelling—and grateful for the chance to connect with everyone from frontline staff to executive directors.

💜 One life at a time. Meet Lani Jones.

For Lani, housing stability is personal. As a Case Manager with Community Forward SF’s Women’s Flex Housing Subsidy Program, she draws on her own experiences with housing instability to support women as they navigate barriers, connect with resources, and work toward goals that matter to them.

We’re grateful for the compassion and care Lani brings to her work—and for the many ways she helps participants move toward what comes next.
