⚾️ The countdown is on!

Join us on Saturday, June 13 for the 33rd Annual Mae Louise Mayes Citywide Softball Tournament—an annual fundraiser benefiting City Youth Now, hosted in partnership with San Francisco Human Services Agency (SF HSA) and San Francisco Recreation & Parks.

This long-standing community tradition brings together supporters from across the city for a day of friendly competition and impact. This year's tournament will feature teams from many City and County of San Francisco departments, along with organizations including the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Giants, Mayor's Office, and more, all stepping onto the field to support San Francisco youth.

We are STILL feeling the energy, love, and impact from last Thursday’s 76th Annual Rise Awards 🎉✨

Because of this incredible community, we welcomed more than 140 attendees, celebrated 10 amazing youth scholarship recipients, and raised nearly $40,000 to continue supporting and uplifting youth across our community. 💙

Every ticket purchased, donation made, raffle entered, conversation shared, and moment celebrated helped remind our youth that they are seen, valued, and supported. The room was filled with resilience, hope, laughter, and powerful stories that we will carry with us for a long time.

To our sponsors, donors, volunteers, board members, partners, and everyone who showed up for our youth: thank you. Your support allows us to continue creating opportunities, removing barriers, and investing in brighter futures for the young people we serve.

This was more than just an event. It was a reminder of what community can do when we come together. 🌟

📢 NEW TEAM MEMBER 📢

We’re excited to introduce our second newest team member, Kassandra (KC)! 🎉
KC has officially stepped into the role of Programs Coordinator and will be a main point of contact for all program-related matters at CYN. We’re so excited to have her supporting and creating impactful opportunities for our youth!

KC is a graduate from San Francisco State University. There sparked her interest in community empowerment, mental wellness, and advocacy. KC has enjoyed working with youth by providing training around behavioral health and tools to pursue their education. She is excited to be part of the team! In her free time her hobbies include drawing/painting, crocheting, enjoying nature, and watching movies.

We are thrilled to announce our 2026 Community Service Award recipient: Denia Valdeolivar! 🎉

Denia has shown up for City Youth Now time and time again, bringing heart, action, and unwavering dedication. From supporting youth led programs to collaborating on the needs of the young people on her caseload, or helping lead efforts for our softball tournaments, she has consistently been a strong partner and advocate!

Our work with foster youth is made stronger through partnerships with social workers like Denia who believe deeply in our mission and show up for our youth every day. Because of her, our community is more connected, supported, and empowered. 🌱

We can't wait to honor her at our upcoming event and celebrate the impact she has made in keeping our community strong 💛

2025 flew by and we’re just now catching our breath! ✨🎉 As we play catch-up, we’re excited to share some highlights from last year — starting with our Personal Empowerment Program (PEP)!

Our Personal Empowerment Program (PEP) supports the holistic growth of youth at-promise by covering needs that traditional funding often can’t. We do this through various programs, like our micro-grants program! Through micro-grants, we provide temporary and emergency support for things like medical and dental assistance or care, independent living essentials, groceries, and recreational programs that encourage positive, pro-social activities 🌱💪

This work is only possible because of the incredible support from our community. Huge thank you to our partners and supporters: Ticket to Dream Foundation, Simply the Basics, Junior League of San Francisco, Foster Love, Klarich Family Fund, the Fremont Foundation, and all of our amazing individual donors 💛🙌

We’re so grateful to everyone who continues to stand with CYN and the young people we serve. We can’t wait to see what this next year brings! 🚀

📣NEW EMPLOYEE ALERT📣

We are so excited to share our newest team member, Ayla! She has officially transitioned into the Youth Services Coordinator role and will be the main point of contact for any direct service support with our youth 🤩 Read her bio below:

Ayla was born and raised in the Bay Area. Graduating from UC Berkeley, she found her passion working with youth through volunteer work. Since 2020, Ayla has worked directly with youth through academic and professional development, resource coordination, and management. Ayla has worked as a tutor for several years before becoming a Program Coordinator working in under-resourced schools in East and West Oakland. All those wonderful experiences brought her to City Youth Now! Ayla enjoys pitching in wherever it is needed and is guided by the belief that working with youth is some of the most rewarding work that can be done! During freetimes, Ayla loves playing with her tuxedo cat Churo, playing with the neighbor’s cat Louie, volunteering with cat cafes, hanging out with family and friends, going for walks, and reading books.
