One year ago, brother and sister Rabina and Santosh opened Bir Kitchen on 24th Street, blessing us with the rich and vibrant flavors of India and Nepal, right in the heart of the Mission. Rooted in heritage and hospitality, Bir Kitchen shares the foods and recipes passed down through generations with SF’s diverse community including the Ruby. Last week, we got to enjoy their delicious South Asian food at Community Lunch featuring a custom menu created especially for us!

We are absolutely head-over-heels in LOVE with one of the city's new bookstores: The Love Potion Library . We took a little walk over to them recently to visit and WOW, this city really needed a space like this. The Love Potion Library serves as a dedicated romance bookstore, tea room, and w**e bar. They also carry bookish merch, have cozy seating, and special events monthly! Go grab a book, tea, and a pastry!

Our Rubies are the most creative folks everrr! Ruby Creative in Residence Sun Park helped design clothing for The Ruby with our logo on it. Pretty cool, right?!Thanks Sun! We’re currently in the reviewing samples phase but don’t worry our designs will be available for all soon.

How soon? We plan to have some options by November.
You’ll get your first chance to purchase some merch in person at our upcoming Ruby Winter Bazaar on Nov 21st.

Our first Italian book club night was fantastico!

Neopolatena and CIR Sara Marinelli led us on a discussion of Elena Ferrante’s debut novel, TROUBLING LOVE. The evening was complete with delicious Italian treats courtesy of Sara and participants! Pasta, panna cotta, and a good book—what more could you want? ✨

The vibrations were high at last Friday’s Full Moon Meditation and Sound journey in honor of the Mid-Autumn Festival!

Led by Ruby Gladys Lu and guest musician MaFi, we gave ourselves permission to slow down and let go. Fully immersed in mindful breathing and the soothing sounds of an ocean drum along with a gong and other instruments, many of us walked away feeling reenergized and a sense of gratitude.

Afterwards, we shared of the experience over drinks and light bites including delicious Mooncakes from Ruby Peggy Lee! We also took in the beauty of the moon. Dang, she’s special!

Thanks to everyone that attended. Special shout-out to Gladys and Fernanda (MaFi) for taking us on a wonderful trip. We look forward to the next one!

Meet us at the Ruby and learn the art of fermentation in this hands-on, collaborative class led by Ruby Angela DeCenzo.

We’ll make former Ruby Kelly McVicker’s Curry Cauliflower, a fermented adaptation of her prize-winning pickle which took home a 2017 Good Food Award from her book Essential Vegetable Fermentation, along with Carrot-Ginger Kraut from the book Fermented Foods for Health. YUM!

Everyone will take home about a pint of the Carrot-Ginger Kraut and a quart of the Curry Cauliflower.
