The Afterschool Bluegrass Club (ABC) Program brings weekly, hands-on music education—guitar, fiddle, singing, ensemble playing—to kids who wouldn't otherwise have access to it. To keep sessions like these going, and to bring the program to more communities across California, we need your help.

Join us Thursday, September 10 at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley for a once-in-a-lifetime night: David Nelson Band & Friends, with Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band—a benefit concert for ABCs. 100% of proceeds go straight to the program.

The Bluegrass Bridge program is heading back to B Yard at Avenal State Prison this Saturday for a live bluegrass performance and workshop.

Founded in 2021, Bluegrass Bridge brings live music and hands-on instruction to incarcerated individuals, using the values at the heart of bluegrass—teamwork, active listening, leadership, and mutual support—to help participants build skills for rehabilitation and reentry. We've donated mandolins, fiddles, banjos, guitars, and instructional books along the way, and heard from participants how much these visits mean:

"Thank you for valuing us enough to come and give us an awesome day."

"It was the best concert in my almost 30 years in prison. Meant a lot."

This Saturday's performers are Program Director Nate Schwartz, along with Ellery Marshall, Adam Moss, Jace Mason, and Chris Jackson. Thank you for volunteering your time and talent to bring bluegrass inside the walls.

Boy do we have some fun news to share!

David Nelson (yes, of the extended Grateful Dead family) will be leading a singular lineup at Sweetwater Music Hall on September 10th with Suzy & Eric Thompson, Paul Knight, and Lowell “Banana” Levinger in support of the CBA’s After School Bluegrass Club (ABC) Program, bringing music education to kids who wouldn’t otherwise have access.

Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band opens, CBA youth program alumni themselves, back to support the next generation.

We are honored and delighted that our very own Father’s Day Bluegrass Festival has been nominated for Event of the Year for its 50th anniversary celebration last year.
