Every year, we close out the school year with Park Day at Dolores Park, a celebration that includes pizza, potato sack races, art, games, sports, and a whole lot of fun. Our Scholars came together across grades to play, laugh, celebrate their hard work over the year, and soak in one last moment together before summer. 🌞🌱

For our seniors, Park Day carries more weight. A moment to reflect on how far they've come, and to look ahead at everything waiting for them in college and beyond. We hope they take the community, joy, and friendships they've made at SMART with them wherever they go. 🎓✨

On Saturday, we hosted our annual Career Conference! Over 80 Scholars from three local education nonprofits attended a day-long program filled with workshops, roundtable discussions, and 1:1 networking with professionals across varied industries like tech, finance, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and more. This was our first year partnering with other organizations to expand this event’s impact, and we were thrilled to see such robust attendance.

Thank you to our partner institutions and for helping plan and run our biggest conference to-date! Thank you also to for hosting our event for the second year in a row. Finally, a huge shout out to the 28 volunteers that showed up to speak with students, share their career paths, and provide invaluable advice to our youth.

Last week, our high school Scholars had the opportunity to visit Salesforce for a tour of their headquarters and to hear from a panel of employees about their career paths. Following a presentation and lunch, around 45 Scholars were able to network and get 1:1 time with the panelists. Thank you and for providing an amazing opportunity for career exploration, networking, and building community!

SMART is delighted to announce that this spring, every member of SMART’s high school Class of 2026 will receive an individual investment account, laying the foundation for long-term financial planning and emphasizing the importance of early investments. This gift, funded by the generosity of Byron and Allison Deeter, reflects our deep belief in our Scholars and their potential to build generational opportunity.

We are truly grateful to the visionary donors who made this initiative possible. These accounts ensure that this year’s graduating seniors leave for college equipped with an asset that can grow with them over time and that will encourage their financial acumen in the years to come.

High school is the perfect time to start exploring the future — and college tours make it real. Every spring, SMART leads tours to various NorCal college campuses so that our students can get a firsthand experience of what their futures could look like.

Walking around campuses, meeting with student groups, and eating at cafeterias has a different impact than just scrolling through a website. These tours help our Scholars see themselves beyond a brochure; they help identify the campus where they will belong.
