This Sunday, OCT 18 at 9 AM, we gather for a worship service. Rev. Daniel's sermon is titled "In the Midst of the Mess," will invite us to strip away polite religious pretense and explore how faith speaks to life’s real friction and moral complications.

Our Scripture reading from Matthew 22:15–22 presents Jesus with a political trap over imperial taxes, reminding us that while coins bear Caesar's mark, our lives belong entirely to God. Alongside this Gospel reading, we’ll reflect on poetry by Richard W. Halperin and engage some reflection on an article in The Christian Century by sociologist Gerardo Marti on the deep, ongoing work of genuine church inclusion—moving beyond mere "niceness" to recognize the sacred, irreplaceable worth of every human soul.

As we navigate complex headlines, personal struggles, and upcoming seasons of physical healing or recovery, this service serves as a powerful reminder that God doesn't wait for our lives to be neat and orderly before showing up. We worship a God who meets us right inside the chaotic, un-neat reality of our daily lives and calls us to hold one another in grace. Come bring your whole self—your questions, your heavy hearts, and your hope—as we support each other and discover how to live faithfully, side by side, right in the middle of the mess.

Sunday, October 11, we are brought together faith, pride, and legendary music for our special Beatles-Themed National Coming Out Day Worship & Praise service.

To help bring the energy to life, we invited folks to dress up in their favorite mod, groovy, or retro ’60s and ’70s attire! Our scripture focus for the morning is John 15:12–17 from The Inclusive Bible, alongside the beautiful poetic wisdom of Derek Walcott’s "Love After Love."

We were thrilled to welcome Rev. Jess Shine, MDiv, ECRF (they/he/elle) as our guest preacher, bringing us a timely message titled "I Choose Me!"

LGBTQ+ history is part of our shared religious history. LGBTQ+ people have always been part of our faith communities, our neighborhoods, and our families. Across religious traditions, they have prayed, preached, taught, served, raised children, cared for neighbors, and nurtured their spiritual lives—even when doing so meant risking rejection, discrimination, or exclusion from the very communities where they sought belonging and spiritual nourishment.

Remembering LGBTQ+ history matters because every person deserves dignity, respect, and the opportunity to live authentically. By listening to LGBTQ+ stories, we encounter people rather than stereotypes. By acknowledging past and present harms, we create space for truth-telling, accountability, healing, and reconciliation. And by celebrating LGBTQ+ lives, leadership, and contributions, we recognize the gifts that enrich our congregations, our communities, and our shared humanity.

This LGBTQ+ History Month, may we honor the courage of those who came before us, listen to those whose stories are still too often overlooked, and help build a future where people of every sexual orientation and gender identity are welcomed, valued, and able to flourish in their faith communities.
