This Sunday: The Sacred Audacity of the Outsider
Join us this Sunday as we dig into a story that turns traditional expectations upside down. In our Gospel reading (Matthew 15:21–28), an unnamed Canaanite woman steps out from the margins, refuses to take "no" for an answer, and brings a disruptive, sacred audacity directly to Jesus. Alongside our scripture, we will reflect on Becky Hemsley’s contemporary poem, “Crumbs,” exploring how marginalized communities—and especially LGBTQ+ believers—have historically been offered only the scraps of conditional tolerance. Together, we’ll ask what it means to stop begging for acceptance from systems built on fear and scarcity, and instead claim our inherent right to God’s full table of justice, dignity, and love.
In a world that constantly tells us to sit quietly, lower our voices, or wait our turn, this week’s sermon—“The Sacred Audacity of the Outsider”—is a call to holy resistance and radical liberation. We will celebrate the power of speaking truth from the margins and explore how God's grace is not a rationed commodity, but an ever-expanding feast meant for everyone.
