Specialized Aquatic Integration For Therapy and Education (SAIFTE)

Specialized Aquatic Integration For Therapy and Education (SAIFTE) We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing rehabilitative aquatic therapy for juveniles who experience symptoms of arthritis and cerebral palsy.

Aquatic Integration is a specialized hydrotherapy developed for rehabilitation, which can be combined with occupational therapy, physical therapy, and regulated exercise regimens. Applying clinical techniques such as myofascial release and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation in 92-96°F saltwater pools allows us to harness unique properties of water such as hydrostatic pressure and buoyancy.

In utilizing these properties, we are able to increase blood circulation and relieve muscle spasticity, which can improve mobility, range of motion and overall pain management. Specialized aquatic physical education and exercise courses will be provided to students. All courses will be taught by certified instructors, with the goal of increasing muscle strength and motor control, while decreasing pain and stiffness. Weight-bearing plus resistance training exercises are great tools in combating symptoms of osteoporosis such as decreased bone density, without causing excessive strain on joints and muscles. As a model in Aquatic Integration and aquatic physical education, SAIFTE seeks to motivate individuals through aquatic modalities to improve pain management, attain a better quality of life and achieve greater independence.
