We’re ready to rumble this May Day 2026! Across San Francisco, the Bay, and coast to coast, workers, immigrants, and more of us are joining together with a strong message to say, “we the people over billionaires!” ✊

Instead of funding war and ICE, we need to fund healthcare, education, and more services so our communities can truly thrive.

📌 Show up and show out this Friday at 3:00 p.m. in Portsmouth Square!

🧐 Can you guess how much more the CEOs of these corporations make, compared to the median salary of an employee (at the same company)?

Prop D would tax companies whose CEOs earn more than 100x than their average employee (all of these companies!) ➡️ and direct the money back to the people.

Many of us struggle to make a living wage, access critical healthcare – yet we are seeing our collective resources, over and over, go to kill and displace people in wars around the world – and to ICE and federal agents that tear apart our communities here.

Voting Yes on Prop D, and No on Prop C in June is one way we demand our collective resources to go to healthcare, food, education, and affordable housing – NOT lining the pockets of the wealthy and funding war. 🗳️

What is Prop D – the Overpaid CEO Act – on the June SF Primary ballot?

💸 Prop D would generate over $300 million every year by making sure the wealthiest corporations pay their fair share.

It would tax companies whose CEOs earn more than 100x than their average employee → and direct the money back to the people. Already, the opposition has put forth a measure to prevent this happening (Prop C), but we can’t let it pass!

At a time when our federal government and wealthy corporations profit from yet another war, while we face budget cuts and everyday people struggle to make ends meet – we need to make sure the wealthiest corporations pay their fair share, and spend money on caring for our people and basic needs instead.

🗳️Yes on D, No on C for the people over billionaires! Vote on or before June 2!

We celebrated Lunar New Year at with over 300 people in attendance! Special programming included a performance by plus horsie!, and of “Butterfly Lovers” by CPA OGs Jon Jang and Francis Wong (an ever-CPA song). Shout out to our staff emcees, to worker leader Qiuxue sharing about her experience fighting for and winning back her wages as a domestic worker, to our transitioning leadership teams!

As many know, our former Executive Director Shaw San is stepping down after 19 years . We took time during this new year to celebrate our outgoing leaders and welcome in our new Leadership Team and Executive Director Lily Wang.

It wouldn’t be a CPA without a little silliness and many hands pitching in – shout out to all our volunteers to holding down food, photobooth, and art stations, and everyone who showed up to connect in this moment.

In celebration of International Working Women's Day🌷 last week, we want to celebrate Yuki, a domestic worker and single mother. She first came to CPA last year after experiencing wage theft at a laundromat which had since closed down:

"After being unfairly dismissed, my employer still owed me $300 in wages. It wasn’t a large amount, but it was money I had rightfully earned. I tried to recover it for three months, but he left my messages on read.

With the support of CPA, I finally found the courage to write to him and negotiate directly. In December last year, I was able to recover the wages that belonged to me. This was never just about the money — it was about dignity.... I hope every worker remembers: don’t give up just because the amount is small. It is the fruit of your labor. Be brave and speak up for yourself — you are not alone.”

After this case, Yuki has joined CPA as a member and her advocacy in her own life continues with her housing rights. 🌟

☎️ If you have any questions or doubts, be sure to document your working hours and all wages! Call CPA for a free workers rights consultation: (415)391-6898.
