Registration for our three-month Gardening and Composting Educator Training Program (Get Up!) is open until Friday, August 14th! Click on the link below to learn more about the program and apply. The program is all Saturdays except on from September 12th through December 12th, and six Thursday evenings.

In its 30th year (!), Get Up! has trained hundreds of Bay Area residents to be conscientious, engaged, and skilled gardeners and community builders. Join us to be part of this robust tradition.

Join the Get Up! Garden Educator Program to learn sustainable gardening, teaching techniques, and community building, fostering ecological justice in the Bay Area.

On June 20th, GFE will host a new workshop, "Trees for Life: Young and Old Tree Care", taught by longtime GFE instructor and certified arborist Ellyn Shea. If you're curious about how to show your trees some love, this is the class for you! Please note taht this does not include most fruit trees. We will have a Summer Fruit Tree Pruning workshop in July.

Meet Jorge and Carolina! As part of we are thrilled to have these two supporting our volunteer and field trip programs all year long. is a new statewide initiative to pair college students with non-profits working on climate action and other important issues. “Seeing how committed everyone is to the garden and helping the environment is very inspiring,” says Carolina. We cannot wait to teach, and learn from, them.
