☘️ The Irish community of the Bay Area will gather this Sunday to honor and thank Micheál Smith, Ireland’s Consul General in San Francisco, and his wife Claire as they prepare to conclude their time in Northern California.
Since his appointment in 2020, Micheál has served as Ireland’s representative across the Western United States, strengthening the ties between Ireland and America through diplomacy, business, education, culture, and community engagement. Throughout his tenure, he has been a steadfast supporter of Irish organizations and events across the Bay Area, helping to foster connections that will endure for years to come.
Whether attending cultural celebrations, supporting Irish heritage initiatives, promoting economic and educational partnerships, or engaging with Irish and Irish-American organizations throughout the region, Micheál and Claire have become valued friends of our community. Their warmth, accessibility, and genuine commitment to the people they serve have left a lasting impression on countless individuals and organizations.
The United Irish Cultural Center is honored to host a special Farewell Reception on behalf of the Irish community to recognize Micheál’s distinguished service and to thank the Smith family for their friendship, leadership, and dedication to Irish life in Northern California.
