Welcome to the USS Golden Gate/49th Medical SAR Community Page! We are a STAR TREK based Science Fiction fan club formed by folks who want to have a good time enjoying the universe of Gene Roddenberry’s vision in all its many forms. We are a very diverse group and welcome anyone who loves Science Fiction regardless of race, creed, nationality, gender, politics, sexual orientation or ability differ
ences. We choose the name GOLDEN GATE because we feel that the Golden Gate Bridge symbolizes all that is special and promising about our City. As San Francisco is the birthplace of the United Nations and “lets no stranger wait outside her door,” we embrace the Golden Gate and make it our symbol of the IDIC concept as we see it reflected in the tolerance and acceptance that so many of us have found in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Our Chapter has been through many renditions. Upon first commissioning in 1993, we began as an Asmodeus Class Light Corvette Shuttlecraft (NCC2002/07), in STARFLEET. After commissioning in late 1994, (See inside cover) our ship is an Athabaska Class Exploratory Cruiser (NCC-2562). Our Second Commissioning was in August of 1995 in the United Federation of Planets, Internationalé and now our reunification to STARFLEET in early 2011. Our Motto is "Live Long and Party on, Dudes!"
The 49th Medical SAR (Marine Strike Group) are the Military Styled Annex of STARFLEET INTL’S San Francisco Chapter the USS Golden Gate. As the more Military like aspect of the same Science Fiction Fan Club our focus is on Community Safety and Neighborhood preparedness. Oh and having serious hardcore FUN !! The 49th MSG is an advocate of your local Community or Neighborhood Emergency Response Teams (CERT or NERT). Please look them up in your area, usually found on Fire Department websites.
