Today, our Social Action Coordinator, Saul A. Perez, joined the Order of Malta Clinic of Northern California for their podiatry outreach in Oakland.

Saul shared, “The opportunity to wash patients’ feet and speak with them before their appointments was humbling and a reminder of our call to serve the poor and vulnerable.”

The Dominican Sisters of San Rafael are a big part of our history here in the SF Bay Area.

⚜️✨ 250 Sisters Who Shaped the USA: Mother Mary of the Cross Goemaere, OP ✨

A courageous pioneer and foundress, Mother Mary of the Cross Goemaere, OP, answered God’s call to serve in a new land and helped lay the foundation for women religious in California. On December 6, 1850, she arrived in San Francisco after an arduous journey from France by way of New York, the Panama Isthmus and California’s coast.

In spring 1851, she settled in Monterey, where she formed California’s first congregation of women religious, the Congregation of the Most Holy Name, and opened a school. Through her faith, courage and dedication to education, Mother Mary of the Cross Goemaere helped establish a lasting Dominican presence and contributed to the growth of Catholic education in the American West.

Her journey reminds us that answering God’s call often requires great courage, perseverance and a willingness to step into the unknown. Her pioneering spirit helped open doors for generations of women religious and students who would follow. ❤️📚

Followed by a panel discussion with Randall Williams , seminarian for the Archdiocese of San Francisco, street evangelist, and award-winning filmmaker, and Catherine Dombrowski, commercial real estate professional, Bella Primary Care volunteer, pro-life advocate, and parishioner at St. Dominic's.

A nice story about Stanford students entering the Catholic Church.

This year, a record number of young adults at Stanford University said yes to becoming Catholic.

The Valley Catholic tells the story of a remarkable OCIA year at the Catholic Community at Stanford — the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, the path by which grown men and women are baptized, confirmed, and welcomed to the Lord's Table. The Most Reverend Thomas John Paprocki, Bishop of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, the Lutheran Care Center, and four Illinois physicians today sued the State of Illinois over its new assisted su***de law, the “End of Life Options” Act.

Thomas More Society filed the complaint on their behalf, asking a federal court to block the law before it takes effect on September 12. The law requires faithful medical professionals to help facilitate patient su***des in violation of the Hippocratic Oath, centuries of legal and medical tradition, and their deeply held religious convictions.

Faith, Heritage & Hope at San Quentin

Last Friday, the Archdiocese of San Francisco’s Restorative Justice Ministry cosponsored the second annual celebration of El Salvador’s Divine Savior of the World at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center.

The day included Holy Mass, traditional Salvadoran food, music, dancing, and fellowship—celebrating faith, culture, human dignity, and hope.

As Restorative Justice Ministry Coordinator Julio Escobar reminded those gathered: “Your story is not over. God sees more in you than the world sees.”
