Today, San Francisco lost one of its quiet heroes.

K9 Xoro, a devoted member of the San Francisco Fire Department, passed away after a lifetime of service to this city. Xoro was more than a working dog—he was a partner, a protector, and a source of strength during the hardest moments San Francisco has faced.

From drills to real-world emergencies, Xoro stood shoulder-to-shoulder with our first responders, helping bring people home and bringing hope when it mattered most. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the teams he supported, and the enduring spirit of service he embodied.

San Francisco Fleet Week honors K9 Xoro, and all the K9 teams who serve this city with courage, loyalty, and heart.

Thank you, Xoro.
You served with honor.
You will not be forgotten.

🇺🇸 Veterans Day 2025 — A City’s Salute, 250 Years in the Making

This Veterans Day, San Francisco stands in salute to all who have served, and to 250 years of the United States Navy and Marine Corps.

From the decks of wooden ships to the carriers that visit our bay, from Tun Tavern to Treasure Island, generations have answered the call to defend our freedoms and safeguard our shores.

Their legacy lives in every sail past the Golden Gate, every jet over the City skyline, and every handshake on the pier.

As we mark this milestone year, San Francisco Fleet Week honors the veterans whose courage built our future — and whose service continues to guide it.

🎉🎶 Happy Birthday & Thank You, Commissioner Kat Anderson!

San Francisco Fleet Week proudly celebrates Commissioner Kat Anderson, President of the San Francisco Recreation and Park Commission — a true champion of civic spirit, youth opportunity, and our city’s traditions.

This year, Commissioner Anderson not only sponsored the 2nd Place Award for our High School Band Challenge, but also personally contributed $2,000 to each participating high school to help cover transportation costs ensuring every student could take part in this unforgettable event.

For nearly a decade, Commissioner Anderson has been one of Fleet Week’s strongest allies supporting our programs, our city’s youth, and the values that make San Francisco shine. Her generosity and leadership embody the best of public service.

🕊️ Honoring Flight Nurse Susan “Suzie” Smith

The San Francisco Fleet Week community joins the REACH Air Medical family — and all first responders across California in mourning the loss of Flight Nurse Susan “Suzie” Smith, who passed away following last week’s tragic medical helicopter crash in Sacramento County.

Suzie served as a nurse for more than 50 years, including 21 years with REACH. Her dedication, compassion, and courage represented the very best of what it means to serve others.

Every flight she took was an act of courage and compassion, bringing help to those who needed it most.

From all of us at San Francisco Fleet Week, we send our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues.

May her legacy soar forever. ❤️🚁
