Our mission is to enhance the lives of the people in our community through programs for youth, families & seniors. 🏪✨ Our Senior Program recently joined other community organizations and District 3 Supervisor Danny Sauter for District 3 Supervisor 李爾德 for a tour of the new Grocery Outlet opening at the former Safeway location on Bay Street.

This moment was especially meaningful because TEL HI seniors supported efforts to bring Grocery Outlet to the neighborhood and advocate for greater access to affordable groceries. On the tour, seniors were able to share feedback, ask questions, and provide input on what they would like to see in the new store.

The Grocery Outlet team also shared that they are hiring and discussed upcoming job opportunities for community members.

We’re excited to see our community’s efforts come to life at the store’s opening on August 13! 🎉

Exciting news from our TEL HI teens! 🌟

Recently, about 10 students and 8 staff members from TEL HI’s Futurama Program at Galileo High School came together for team leadership training at TEL HI North Beach and the new Mission Bay Elementary School site.

This summer, the new Futurama Student Leader interns will help launch a new pilot program at Mission Bay Elementary. The training prepared them to lead outdoor recreation, art, and STEAM activities that foster teamwork, creativity, consideration for others, and a strong sense of belonging.

Their highest priority is building positive relationships with elementary students through encouragement, mentorship, and support, while helping every child feel valued and connected. ☀️

We’re proud of our Futurama Student Leaders and excited to see the impact they’ll make this summer!

🎓 Last week, our North Beach ECE community celebrated the end of another amazing school year!

For most children, this event marked a special step forward as they prepare to move up into their new classroom. For our Dolphin class graduates, it marked the end of their TEL HI ECE journey and the beginning of an exciting new chapter in TK or kindergarten!

Many of our Dolphin students first came to us as infants, and it has been a privilege to watch them grow into confident, curious young learners. During the celebration, they performed two songs and one poem for their families, teachers, and classmates.

We are so proud of all our North Beach ECE students and grateful to the teachers and families who helped nurture, guide, and encourage them throughout the year. Congratulations to our graduates, and happy summer to all of our ECE families! ☀️

🎓 Earlier this month, our Mission Bay ECE community came together to celebrate the end of a wonderful school year!

Families, students, and staff gathered as each classroom marked an important milestone: moving up to the next class and celebrating a year of growth, learning, and joy. The celebration included performances from the Fox Cubs, including a sweet rendition of “You Are My Sunshine” with Mr. Michael from Blue Bear School of Music.

A special congratulations to our Fox Cub classroom, who received mini diplomas as they prepare to leave TEL HI Mission Bay for T-K or kindergarten in the fall.

We are so proud of all our Mission Bay ECE students and grateful to the families and teachers who made this year so special for our little learners!

On May 30th, TEL HI welcomed over 330 guests to The Conservatory at One Sansome for an unforgettable night of community and generosity presented by SDSS Global Ltd. Together, we raised $376,000+ to support TEL HI’s programs for children, teens, seniors, and families from all backgrounds! 💚

We were proud to honor David Lazar, former Assistant Chief of the SFPD, with the inaugural Elizabeth Ashe-Alice Griffith Award, for his leadership and dedication which embodies the spirit of service demonstrated by our founders.

Thank you to California State Senator Scott Wiener, President of the Board of Supervisors Rafael Mandelman, Danny Sauter for District 3 Supervisor 李爾德, District 6 Supervisor Matt Dorsey, City Attorney David Chiu, and Assessor-Recorder Joaquín Torres for joining us in celebration of TEL HI’s 136-year legacy of service.

We’re excited to welcome Darya Folsom as the emcee for a Taste of TEL HI 2026! 🎤✨

Darya Folsom is thrilled and honored to be the emcee of this year’s event because she, too, is dedicated to inspiring growth and empowering all people to feel happy, safe, and free.

Darya has been waking up the Bay Area for the past 27 years on the KRON4 Morning News. Now that she lives without alarm clocks and deadlines, she’s using her curiosity, creativity, and gift for gab to help herself and others awaken to their peaceful, loving, true nature. She’s sharing the follies of her ever-unfolding evolution on her “WakeupwithDarya” YouTube channel and her romcomdram-auto-bio, “don’t start your day with the news,” which are right now, as she is, presently in the works. Stay tuned…

We can’t wait to gather in two days for a wonderful celebration and an opportunity to raise vital funds for TEL HI’s programs and services for children, families, and seniors across San Francisco! ⭐️

This month, students, families, and educators from our TEL HI Early Childhood Education programs participated in the San Francisco Department of Early Childhood SFQC Lullaby Project Celebration Concert at Noe Music.

In this special pilot program, families and teachers worked alongside local musicians to create personalized lullabies for the children, with each song reflecting a child’s personality, relationships, language, culture, and classroom connections.

In the video, Ethan and Fynn from North Beach perform one of the songs created through the project, “Sweet Fig and Curious Egg.”

This project reflects one of TEL HI’s Taste 2026 Fund-a-Need causes: expanding music programming in our Early Childhood Education classrooms. With community support, we hope to bring more music, movement, rhythm, language-building, and creative expression to children at both our North Beach and Mission Bay ECE sites. 💛
