Despite all the debate about San Francisco—what’s working, what’s broken, what the city should do next—most of us struggle to find a couple of hours to roll up our sleeves ourselves.

Our new SF Volunteer Calendar makes it easy by bringing volunteer opportunities from organizations across the city into one place🗓️✨

You can find everything from park days and trash cleanups to food distribution, housing support, youth programs, animal care, and more. You can even filter by neighborhood and date to find a way to pitch in that works for you.

And if you don’t see something on there that should be, add it! We want this to be a genuinely useful, one-stop shop for finding ways to get involved across San Francisco — and the more opportunities we can include, the better.

This October, celebrate the third annual SF Stairway Month!🗓️🥾

In 2024, the Board of Supervisors officially passed a resolution declaring the month of October as the first SF Stairway Month in the City and County of San Francisco🌁

This year’s will highlight and celebrate San Francisco’s 900+ public stairways with free events including guided walks featuring the mosaic artists and organizers behind some of SF’s most famous stairways, and a talk about everything SF stairways!🙌

SF Stairway Month is also proud to be part of the Crosstown Trail’s first-ever Walktober, a month-long, citywide celebration dedicated to the simple joy and power of walking. Walktober features community-led walks, historic stairway tours, urban trail adventures, and nature walks across the city’s 7x7-mile footprint.

A couple years ago, Christine, the Executive Director of All My Usos reached out about their Family Day BBQ, which brought 2,000+ people together to celebrate and support Visitacion Valley’s Pacific Islander community.

So when she called us again, we were excited to hear what she had in mind for this year’s Family Day. And somewhere in the middle of our conversation, she casually added: “I’ve been seeing all the night markets around the city. Let us know if you’d ever be interested in doing one in Visitacion Valley.”

Oh yeah. Bringing night markets to every corner of SF is high on our list, especially when those corners don’t normally see this kind of civic investment.

We couldn’t think of anyone better to make it happen.

Christine and the All My Usos team are deeply rooted in Vis Valley, and they’ve brought together an incredible group of local partners to make this first-ever market feel like their neighborhood.
