📣 The New AAPI San Francisco Tradition returns! 📣

Last year was the kind of day you don’t forget.

‘By the community, for the community’ isn’t a tagline. It’s what this day actually looks like. It’s what this community actually feels like.

1,000+ runners moving through the same streets. 120+ volunteers spread across 3.5 miles of San Francisco, handing out water, Asian candy from around the world, and high-fives.

Japantown to Chinatown. 20+ historic AAPI landmarks. A route that connects where we came from to where we’re going.

Strangers who showed up alone and left as part of energized community.

We said the 5th annual would be something special. We meant it.

First-ever commemorative medal. Some new landmarks and surprises.

The Our Heritage 5K was born out of our movement’s earliest days as a way to activate the community beyond rallies. The name says it: our heritage. Honoring where we came from while building what comes next.

This year’s theme is RE:CONNECT. A reply to our history. A conversation with our future.

For the first time, we’re partnering with to document the 5K and produce a film about this movement.

Every runner is part of the story. The route is the set. The finish line is the red carpet.

5 years and stronger than ever!

Celebrate AAPI Heritage Month with the 5th annual Our Heritage 5K on Saturday, May 9 in San Francisco.

🏅This year is especially meaningful as we celebrate 5 years of the Our Heritage 5K. To mark the milestone, we’ll also be offering optional commemorative race medals!

What started as a community run has become a growing tradition, a joyful, family-friendly 5K that honors the history, resilience, and contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in San Francisco.

This scenic route takes participants through the heart of the city, passing historic AAPI landmarks and celebrating the stories, culture, and legacy that shape our communities.

We’ll kick off the day with an opening ceremony and keep the energy high with cheer stations, photo ops, treats, entertainment, and community celebration along the way.

This year we’re partnering with to turn the race into a documentary as part of RE:CONNECT, a special film project to document the 5k.

Much of the work Asian women do is foundational, yet it often happens without a formal title or a public platform. It isn’t just “help”, it is the essential labor that creates the impact we see every day.

At the 4th Annual Asian Women Are Strong Summit, we are moving Beyond the Spotlight. We are here to name and validate the consequential work done in plain sight in our families, workplaces, and communities.

On March 7th, we’re putting that expertise front and center. Join us to recognize the leadership and the impact that often goes unseen by the world but is felt by everyone.
