We are a multigenerational Italian women's group dedicated to promoting & preserving Italian Culture

Le Donne d‘Italia was established in 2010 and was San Francisco's first Italian Women’s club since the 1970s. We were established to promote and preserve the Italian culture while building friendship between women. Our efforts are to honor those Italians who came before us and the beauty of the Italian Culture. We do this through social activities and events, projects in the community, and support

Buona Festa di San Giuseppe! The San Giuseppe Celebration is a traditional Italian (especially Sicilian) feast honoring Saint Joseph, who is celebrated as a protector, provider, and symbol of gratitude for answered prayers. It is often marked by elaborate St. Joseph’s altars, communal meals, and symbolic foods such as pasta, bread, and sweets shared with family and those in need. Fun fact: Today is also Father’s Day in Italy!

Le Donne d’Italia officer Michelle worked diligently with Sts. Peter and Paul Church to design and install a special altar for the Festa di San Giuseppe. Inspired by altars she saw in New Orleans, Michelle created a beautiful altar with members of Le Donne d’Italia, Societa di Maria Santissima del Lume, SFIAC, and Madonna Addolorata.

The altar is available for viewing at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in North Beach throughout March, and you may leave prayer intentions and collect a San Giuseppe prayer card and a blessed fava bean at the display.

Last night, the spirit of came alive as Le Donne d’Italia joined the Italian Commerce Association to celebrate the “hidden strength” of women in the culinary world. 🇮🇹

We were moved by the stunning cinematography and inspiring storytelling of “La Quinta Stagione,” a docufilm following five Michelin-starred female chefs. The film set the perfect stage for a vibrant panel discussion featuring three incredible women who continue to shape our culinary landscape:

👩🏼‍🍳 Suzette Gresham (Executive Chef and Co-Owner of Acquerello, and Two Michelin Star recipient)
👩🏼‍🍳 Patrizia Pasqualetti (Chef/Owner of Gelato By Patrizia)

Seeing these stories of resilience and artistry reminds us why celebrating and supporting women’s voices is at the heart of what we do.
