BAKU INITIATIVE GROUP CONVENES AN INTERNATIONAL YOUTH CONFERENCE IN BAKU.
MFOP Youth Side Kenya among them
The inaugural International Forum on Empowering Youth for a Post-Colonial Future, organized by the Baku Initiative Group, has officially commenced, bringing together a diverse coalition of global voices committed to justice, equity, and self-determination.
The Forum convenes researchers, international law experts, healthcare professionals, representatives of pro-independence movements, and youth leaders from 17 current and former colonies. Notably, youth from Kenya—including representatives linked to the Mouvement Fédéraliste Mondial Kenya chapter—are actively participating in the discussions, contributing perspectives grounded in grassroots advocacy, climate justice, and democratic engagement.
On the opening day, participants visited ADA University, where dynamic exchanges highlighted the critical role universities play in shaping empowered, informed, and globally connected youth. The discussions underscored how academic institutions can serve as incubators for innovation, solidarity, and transformative leadership in a post-colonial world.
The presence of youth leaders—particularly from Kenya—reinforced a central message of the Forum: that young people are not just participants, but key drivers of change. Their voices and experiences continue to shape conversations around justice, equality, and sustainable development across formerly colonized societies.
With participation spanning countries such as Chad, Gabon, Guinea, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Algeria, and beyond, the Forum marks a significant step in building a shared global movement toward a more just and inclusive post-colonial future.
