Join us in celebrating the beauty and artistry of handloom on this special day.

🌸August 7 is celebrated as National Handloom Day in India, a day to collectively remember the Swadeshi Movement, to honor the handloom weavers and recognize their role in the country's economy and culture. We are grateful to the talented weavers for practicing sustainability, preserving this heritage craft, and creating timeless beauty for us and generations after, in this ever-mechanizing world.

🌸Alongside weavers of India, we would like to take this opportunity to honor the weavers around the world whose skilled hands bring intricate tales to life through every yarn they weave.

🌸This celebration on handloom day is incomplete without thanking every individual, organizations and media, who are tirelessly working to champion and conserve this craft and its makers 🙏

Images shared are part of our travel documentation over several years and also of

We took a tiny break from long days and nights of reviewing beautiful submissions received for the Global Eco Artisan Awards 2022! The applications include many embroidered works and heading to to see the Guo Pei exhibit was the perfect timing for more inspiration!

The exhibit is about narratives of Fantasy, dreams expressed through unconventional dressmaking techniques and magnificent embroidery by couturier . 80 works of art are on display from which here are a few we captured to share with you. All the works of art have intricate embroidery with months and years of work on them. Get inspired friends ✨

We all surround ourselves with objects at home, at work or places we choose to visit that carry special memories, meanings or bring positivity to our everyday life! Spaces that inspire us. The decor designs one owns has its own story and mood in ways unlike another. The colors, shapes, lines and meaning all come together in unison to form a work of art that literally releases life into empty, lifeless spaces.

As we come closer to our final submission dates, our hearts are filled with gratitude and admiration for all the talented artisans who bring so much joy and limitless creativity into this world in different forms, shapes, and sizes.

From pottery to woodwork, basketry and sculpting, all kinds of decor are unique in their own ways and radiate their own charm and virtue.

Featured here is the work of incredibly talented ceramist, Jonathan Yamakami who we are grateful to have as one of the judges for our “Living Spaces - Decor” category. The picture is one of his fine pieces of art, a Raku vessel, “Perched Vase”.

Do stay with us as we present the series of judges for our final category “Living Spaces - Decor” tomorrow.

Repost from .yamakami Perched vase. 🐦 Raku vessels aren’t watertight (there are products that some folks use to make vessels impervious to water but I’ve never tried them). I usually just use a glass container inside of the vase. It works for me but I know not everyone loves it. I see it as a trade off between the finishes that are obtainable with Raku and being a “fully functional” vase. 😬

Whoever said “You are never fully dressed without jewelry” is absolutely right!

From ancient civilization to present times, jewelry has not only been an element of ornamentation but also an important means of expression both to the maker and the wearer. Whether for cultural and traditional significance, spiritual aspects, or fashion statements, these pieces of alluring adornments date back to prehistoric times.

There are not enough words to applaud the talent, innovation and tireless moments the proud, skillful artisans spend on turning their creative imagination into beautiful wearable art.

Captured in the image above is wearable art jewelry by Sakurako Matsushima, a Japanese master artisan of lacquer art, who we are honored to have as one of the judges for the jewelry category. The picture above is a necklace made with urushi, eucalyptus leaves, h**p cloth, abalone shell and gold powder collected by Hiroshima City University.

Please stay tuned! Tomorrow we will present part one of the series of eminent judges for the handcrafted jewelry category!
