My reflections on America 250's anniversary- last 25 years from an unrepresentative sample.

On January 13, 2001, I arrived in the United States. Twenty-five years on, I can say with confidence that I have not seen America and there is a strong possibility that I might not even understand it entirely.

“I don’t want to be a millionaire. I want to be a billionaire.” — Russ Hanneman, Silicon Valley Sitcom ( HBO).

California’s proposed billionaire wealth tax isn’t law (yet), but the reactions already tell a story about status, mobility, and fiscal math. Let's dug into the numbers:
➡️ How many billionaires California has
➡️ What the proposal could raise per year for the next 5 years
➡️ What the tech economy already contributes through volatile income-tax flows.
➡️ How that compares to the state’s budget reality

👇 Full article and a very personal opinion in the full article bellow.

PS. Russ would like to know how do your car doors open : spaceship or like a normal car? Same energy.

I’ve been spending some time with the World Bank’s latest charts on AI innovation, and they’re quietly unsettling.

Nearly all AI models, funding, research, and patents are concentrated in high-income countries, while most of the world’s population sits on the margins of that picture. Not because people elsewhere lack skills or ideas, but because AI depends on things we rarely talk about enough: data that can be trusted, institutions that cooperate, and systems that connect technology to everyday economic life.

For countries still formalizing land markets, housing systems, healthcare records, or city planning, AI isn’t a shortcut — it’s a mirror. It reflects what already exists.

Which is why building the foundations matters more than chasing the latest tools.
