Supporting someone who is coming out starts with creating spaces where they feel respected, accepted, and supported for who they are.

During Pride Month, we recognize the importance of community, mental health, and allyship for LGBTQ+ youth and individuals navigating their identities and experiences.

A few ways to support a friend who is coming out:
🌈 Listen without judgment
🌈 Respect their privacy and boundaries
🌈 Use affirming language and pronouns
🌈 Continue showing up with care and compassion
🌈 Encourage connection to supportive resources and community

No one should have to navigate their mental health journey alone. If you or someone you know is looking for support, our Behavioral Health Team is here to help.

Visit the link in our bio to fill out our Counseling Interest Form and learn more about available behavioral health services and support.

Since the opening of 3900 in February 2026, twelve residents have successfully moved into safe housing through the Just Home Project, marking an important early milestone in creating pathways toward stability and support for transitional-aged youth and community members.

Housing-centered, healing-informed support remains critical in helping individuals build long-term wellness, independence, and community connection.

Please join us in congratulating Tiara on her recent promotion to Youth Access Point (YAP) Housing Program Manager! πŸŽ‰

Tiara joined 3rd Street Youth Center and Clinic bringing valuable experience from the real estate industry and quickly became an integral part of our Youth Access Point team. Through her dedication, compassion, advocacy, and commitment to supporting youth across San Francisco, she has helped connect hundreds of young people to housing resources and support services.

Previously serving as a YAP Case Manager, Tiara now steps into a leadership role overseeing both the Youth Access Point (YAP) and SFSU Rapid Rehousing (RRH) programs. In this new position, she will continue supporting youth on the frontlines while also mentoring and uplifting the staff who make this work possible every day.

We’re incredibly proud of Tiara and excited to see her continue making an impact in this next chapter of her journey here.

Pride Month is a reminder that every young person deserves to feel loved, safe, supported, affirmed, and free to be fully themselves.

We remain committed to creating healing-centered spaces rooted in dignity, compassion, belonging, and community care for LGBTQIA+ youth and communities. Everyone deserves access to support, resources, and spaces where they are seen, valued, and empowered without fear of judgment or discrimination.

This month, every month, and every day, we celebrate the strength, resilience, joy, and individuality of the LGBTQIA+ community while continuing to advocate for safe, inclusive, and affirming spaces for all.

Happy Pride Month from all of us at 3rd Street Youth Center & Clinic 🌈

Our young people are taking their voices to the Capitol in Sacramento! πŸ—£οΈ

Our Director of Policy, Julia H. and Director of Community Housing Programs, Julia D., recently brought youth to the Youth Empowerment Summit (YES), an annual convening focused on addressing and ending youth homelessness across California, produced by the California Coalition for Youth.

At YES, young people connected with peers, community leaders, and elected officials, sharing their experiences, building new skills, and advocating for solutions that reflect what youth truly need.

From workshops and panel discussions to meaningful conversations and networking, this space was all about collaboration, leadership, and youth-driven change.

Earlier this month, we partnered with our friends at Umoja Health Access Point (HAP) to host a "Know Your Status": STI Awareness & Testing event for youth ages 12-24 πŸ’›

The event created a safe, supportive space for young people to learn about sexual health, ask questions, and access resources. Participants engaged in interactive activities, connected with peers, and took part in open conversations about health and wellbeing.

Thank you to UMOJA HAP and UCSF Alliance Health Project for providing free testing and helping make this event possible.

We’re grateful to everyone who joined us and took a step toward prioritizing their health.
