"The notice leaves trans residents to figure out for themselves how to even get to the DMV to surrender their licenses without risking class B misdemeanor charges, a $1,000 fine, and a 90-day license suspension. As Erin in the Morning notes, a class B misdemeanor charge is punishable by up to six months in jail in Kansas, where counties are required to house inmates according to s*x assigned at birth."

The letters threaten prison time if trans people don't get new driver's licenses with no notice.
