Do force the production of pieces and looping ? Are more forms possible? Is this emerging market ?
Join Istituto Italiano Cultura SF's virtual discussion " Politics and Poetics" at 11 AM PT.
On December 7th 2021, we will celebrate the 17th edition of ITALIAN CONTEMPORARY ART DAY AMACI with a panel discussion on Zoom with curators Valentino Catricalà, Domenico Quaranta and digital sculptor Auriea Harvey.
The conversation will focus on the impact of NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) on both the forms, contents and aesthetics of the artwork, as well as on the structures and biases of the art world. Some relevant questions that will be raised are: do NFTs force the production of easy pieces and short looping animations, or more complex forms are possible? Are there dominant or emerging aesthetics? What's the influence of platform and collectors? Is this emerging market sustainable? What is it doing in terms of access, racial and gender equity? How are DAOs and collective ownership shaping the field?
This presentation will be in English and it is a cooperation between IIC Chicago & IIC San Francisco; co-presented by THE GRID.
