This Sunday, Minister Marvin K. White reminded us that the responsibility for creating a culture of belonging belongs to all of us-- and that it can be as simple as inviting one person to come with you to church next week.

Thank you to the Vice President of SEIU for speaking to our congregation about the importance of voting Yes on Prop 40 to protect our healthcare in California.

To help serve more clients and reduce food insecurity in San Francisco, GLIDE's dinner meal service has been extended from 60 to 90 minutes beginning October 1st.

As a result, all dinner volunteer shifts now begin at 3:00 PM instead of 3:30 PM. If you've volunteered with Meals in the past, please take note of this updated start time.

On Sunday, October 18th we need volunteers for Phoenix Day, a family-friendly carnival-style festival outside GLIDE. We especially need volunteers for the 10:30am–1:30pm set-up shift, but volunteers are also needed for the 1:30–4:30pm breakdown shift. To sign up, go to link in comment and select your shift from October 18th on our sign-up calendar. Help bring fun to Tenderloin families!

Today, we kicked off our new theme, Sacred Belonging: Nobody Is Disposable.

Minister Marvin started the Celebration by asking everyone to turn to someone around them, say hello, and acknowledge each other. It was a simple moment, but that’s what belonging can look like.

We want everyone who comes through our doors to feel seen, heard, and loved. Whether it’s your first Sunday with us or you’ve been part of this community for years, you belong in this Sanctuary.

Come as you are. We’ll see you next Sunday.

Get ready, world. This Love is coming.

Today, we got a sneak peek at This Love, a powerful new documentary honoring the extraordinary lives, love, and legacy of Rev. Cecil Williams and Janice Mirikitani, the visionaries who helped create the GLIDE movement.

Following the screening, Dr. Gina Fromer joined Kim Williams, Rev. Cecil’s daughter, and Reggie Johnson, Chair of the GLIDE Memorial Church Board, for a conversation about what it means to carry Jan & Cecil’s legacy forward and how we keep sharing their radical, transformative love with the world.

Their message was never simply to talk about love. It was to put love into action.

And that work continues.
