Listen to Cole Reyes talk about “Dot Plot,” one of the pieces on our June 13 concert: “In my undergraduate studies, I pursued mathematics alongside music. Though I loved many facets of math, one that constantly eluded me was statistics. This work, Dot Plot, is an homage to the many frustrations I endured during those classes in the form of using a scatterplot (or dot plot) as inspiration. Within these plots, one may acquire many points of data that may lead to structural cohesion and a conclusion based on a hypothesis, or it may completely disintegrate.”

Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Ettelson Award! $1000 prize open to composers of any age anywhere in the world. Submitted works should be scored for 2+ members of the Ninth Planet ensemble: violin, cello, flute, clarinet, trombone, keyboard, percussion, guitar/ e gtr, double bass - plus one more musician of your choice (i.e., voice)! The winning work will be performed in our next season, and all submitted works will be considered for future programming.
