These amazing volunteers were out to help a mom & pop business in Chinatown, Porkchop House on Jackson Street, near Grant Ave.

After the car accident a few weeks ago, the Porkchop House was boarded up. Within days of yet boards being up, taggers wrote all over the boards. When the City came by on routine exterior inspections, the inspector put a notice up for graffiti abatement. If it wasn’t cleaned up within 15 days, the City could charge up to $1000 per day of administration fee.

I contacted one of the family members that own PorkChop House regarding this issue yesterday. No response. We don’t have much time and all our volunteers all work full time, so we removed the graffiti when we had time. Super THANK YOU to Michael Goodwin & Joshua Pooner for taking charge in doing what’s right for the Community.

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of this celebration in San Francisco, the APA Heritage Foundation has sponsored the production of a documentary which was screened during the APA Heritage Awards event on May 1.

Titled after this year’s theme “Moving Forward Together,” this short 6-minutes video tells the story of the community celebration that started 20 years ago, what we are celebrating and why.
The video ends with a positively joyful message to everyone, “Join Us, Let’s Celebrate Together!"

Here is the link to the video and we hope you would share it out in your upcoming newsletter and announcements.
