World Heritage Day, which is also known as the International Monuments and Sites Day, celebrates the work carried out by the ICOMOS – International Council on Monuments and Sites. The day is all about increasing the awareness of the importance of the diversity of cultural heritage and preserving it for generations in the future. Ancient monuments and buildings are an asset to us all around the world. However, they need to be protected to ensure that they continue to be an asset for years and years to come. Therefore, the day is a collective effort of communities around the globe.

On this day, there are a number of different events that happen all over the world. This includes a wide range of activities, conferences, and visits to heritage sites and monuments. It preserves the legacy of intangible attributes and physical artifacts of a society or group that is inherited from previous generations.

There are truly some incredible heritage sites and monuments around the world. This includes the Machu Picchu, which is situated in the lush and mountainous terrain high above the Urubamba River in Peru. There are lots of amazing sights in Egypt, and the Pyramids of Giza are one of them.

Our world is an unequal one! Happy World Health Day!

As COVID-19 has highlighted, some people are able to live healthier lives and have better access to health services than others - entirely due to the conditions in which they are born, grow, live, work and age.

All over the world, some groups struggle to make ends meet with little daily income, have poorer housing conditions and education, fewer employment opportunities, experience greater gender inequality, and have little or no access to safe environments, clean water and air, food security and health services. This leads to unnecessary suffering, avoidable illness, and premature death. And it harms our societies and economies.

April 7 of each year marks the celebration of World Health Day. From its inception at the First Health Assembly in 1948 and since taking effect in 1950, the celebration has aimed to create awareness of a specific health theme to highlight a priority area of concern for the World Health Organization. The celebration is marked by activities which extend beyond the day itself and serves as an opportunity to focus worldwide attention on these important aspects of global health.

WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY!

Autism spectrum disorder impacts the nervous system and affects the overall cognitive, emotional, social and physical health of the affected individual. Persons with autism have long faced many of these inequalities, which have only been further exacerbated by the pandemic. It’s a problem made worse by long recognized discriminatory hiring practices and workplace environments that present major obstacles for persons with autism; all of which contribute to the unemployment or severe underemployment of a large majority of adults on the autism spectrum.

One of the aims of Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8) – Decent Work and Economic Growth – is to promote full and productive employment and decent work for all, including persons with disabilities. Article 27 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities also recognizes “the right of persons with disabilities to work, on an equal basis with others,” and to a “work environment that is open, inclusive and accessible to persons with disabilities.”

Every year on March 24th, World Tuberculosis Day seeks to build public awareness about the global epidemic of tuberculosis. The observance also aims to increase efforts to eliminate the deadly disease.

Tuberculosis (also known as TB or consumption) is an infectious disease that affects the lungs. The disease spreads when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Some people who have TB don’t have any symptoms. The bacteria that causes TB can sometimes lie dormant for many years. A dormant disease is called a latent infection. Up to 10 percent of those with a latent infection become sick. Those who develop symptoms have a cough, sometimes tinged with blood. They might also experience weight loss, fever, and night sweats.

During the 1800s, TB was the deadliest killer in human history. In the United States alone, 1 out of 7 people who had the disease died. Today, while no longer common in the U.S., tuberculosis still affects 1.8 billion people in the world. Found in every country in the world, tuberculosis is considered a global pandemic. In 2019, 10 million people were diagnosed with tuberculosis. Of those, 1.5 million people died. Women, children, and those with HIV/AIDS are among the most vulnerable to getting the disease.

Most cases of TB occur in developing countries. About 87 percent of TB cases occur in 8 countries, including:

India
China
Indonesia
Philippines
Pakistan
Nigeria
Bangladesh
South Africa

In 2018, only 9,025 cases of TB were diagnosed in the United States. About half of these cases occurred in California, Texas, New York, and Florida. There are concerns that TB bacteria could become resistant to the drugs used to treat it.
There is a vaccination for TB. However, most people in the United States do not get it, simply because they will never be at risk for the disease. In developing countries, many people do not have access to the vaccination.

World Meteorological Day takes place every year on 23 March and commemorates the coming into force on 23 March 1950 of the Convention establishing the World Meteorological Organization.

It showcases the essential contribution of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services to the safety and wellbeing of society and is celebrated with activities around the world.

The ocean cover around 70 per cent of the earth’s surface but when we talk about the climate and weather we usually miss a big piece of the picture because most of the time we only focus on the atmosphere. Moreover, the ocean plays a major role in the global economy. Apart from carrying over 90 per cent of the world trade, it also sustains 40 per cent of humanity living in a radius of 100 km from the coast.

“Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.” Happy world meteorological day!

Happy world consumer rights day!

On 15th March every year, the World Consumer Rights day is celebrated. It is day which is meant to mark the importance of the consumer and the various rights they have in the market.

It is a day meant for the empowerment of the consumers and also to remind the businesses to act in the purpose if the consumer because they are at the heart of all the service that is being offered. It is targeted towards raising global awareness.

If you purchase goods and services for personal use, you are a consumer. There is a good chance that as a consumer, you have probably had a bad experience. Maybe you bought a new product that broke within months of buying it. Or, maybe you hired someone to do a service but they failed to meet your needs.

Most companies try to avoid negative consumer experiences, as it reflects poorly on their business. They know they will also lose customers as a result. In most countries, there are laws that help to protect the rights of consumers. These companies must abide by these laws.

Happy Women's Day to all the incredible women! Shine on.... Not just today but everyday! It's Women's day! Feel special and unique on the top of the world!

International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on 8 March around the world. It is a focal point in the movement for women's rights.
After the Socialist Party of America organized a Women's Day in New York City on 28 February 1909, German delegates Clara Zetkin, Käte Duncker, Paula Thiede and others proposed at the 1910 International Socialist Woman's Conference that "a special Women's Day" be organized annually.

After women gained suffrage in Soviet Russia in 1917, March 8 became a national holiday there. The day was then predominantly celebrated by the socialist movement and communist countries until it was adopted by the feminist movement in about 1967.
The United Nations began celebrating the day in 1977.

Commemoration of International Women's Day today ranges from being a public holiday in some countries to being largely ignored elsewhere. In some places, it is a day of protest; in others, it is a day that celebrates womanhood.

On this dentist day brush off all your worries and brighten you day with a sweet smile. Happy dentist day to all.

Every year on March 6, National Dentist Day is observed to appreciate the efforts of the dentist and thank them for keeping our teeth healthy. Also, it is a day to remind everyone about the importance of dental care. No particular history is there as to how the day came into being. However, there is a saying that in 1970, on March 6, an American dentist named John Greenwood served as a personal dentist of George Washington. He invented the first known "dental foot engine" in 1970 on March 6.

National Dentist’s Day is celebrated every year on March 6. It is observed to create awareness on oral health among the public, educates them about the importance of oral health and the role of a dentist to keep their oral health well and express gratitude to the doctors who help you to keep your teeth healthy.

World Wildlife Day 2021: It is observed on 3 March to highlight the importance of flora and fauna on Earth.

Around the world, between 200 and 350 million people live within or adjacent to forested areas and rely on several ecosystem services provided by forest and forest species for their livelihoods and also to cover their most basic needs like food, shelter, energy, and medicines.

Around 28% of the world's land surface is presently managed by indigenous peoples, including some of the most ecologically intact forests on the planet. These spaces are not only important to their economic and personal well-being but also to their cultural identities.

Forests, forest species, and livelihoods currently depend on them and find themselves at the crossroads of the various planetary crises we currently face due to climate change, biodiversity loss, and health, social and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The day celebrates forest-based livelihoods and promotes forest and forest wildlife management practices that accommodate both human well-being and the long-term conservation of forests.
