This morning, our President Catherine Howard joined fellow California Coalition for Community Investment (CalCCI) board members and staff for a conversation with California Lieutenant Governor Kounalakis.

The group discussed the work of CDFIs, our unique role in the broader financial ecosystem, and the impact we have in communities across California. We’re grateful to Lieutenant Governor Kounalakis for her time, thoughtful questions, and engagement.

It was especially fitting to gather at Warfield Commons in San Francisco, a project Community Vision helped finance that will provide a permanent home for independent media, arts, and nonprofit organizations —and a great example of CDFI capital in action.

We were proud to sponsor South Tower Community Land Trust’s fourth annual Q***r Housing Summit this past weekend!

Our VP of Program Strategy, Leslie Payne, joined community members and advocates for a time focused on creating safe, stable housing for q***r communities, with space to share creative solutions, strengthen connections, and center LGBTQ+ housing experiences. A highlight was hearing from keynote speaker Mercury Stardust (and getting the chance to meet her!).

We’re honored to support spaces like the Q***r Housing Summit that bring people together to learn, connect, and imagine what more equitable and affirming housing can look like.

We're proud to partner with FHLBank San Francisco to deliver a total of $5.95 million in 2026 Affordable Housing Program grants that will help create and preserve 225 affordable homes across the Bay Area.

The grants will support three affordable housing developments providing stable homes for seniors, veterans, and families in San José, San Francisco, and Oakland.

Led by Abode Housing Development, Chinatown Community Development Center, and East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation, these projects will expand access to affordable housing while strengthening communities for years to come.

A new integrated care campus is coming to Bakersfield—and it's designed to make accessing essential services simpler, more connected, and more effective.

We're proud to announce that Community Vision has closed a $15 million New Markets Tax Credit investment to help The Open Door Network create a new integrated care campus in Bakersfield.

For more than 45 years, TODN has served Kern County residents experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, behavioral health challenges, and economic hardship. The new campus will bring healthcare, shelter, behavioral health, childcare, workforce development, and family services together in one place—making care more coordinated, accessible, and effective.

By 2031, the campus is expected to serve approximately 2,481 people annually—a 94% increase over the programs being consolidated. It will also become the first shelter of its kind in California to offer on-site childcare.

This project marks the first deployment of Community Vision's latest New Markets Tax Credit allocation, helping create the permanent community infrastructure organizations need to serve people for generations.

For decades, Catholic sisters have been shaping the field of community development finance—putting capital to work in service of economic justice, affordable housing, and community well-being long before impact investing became mainstream.

We're honored to spotlight the Religious Communities Impact Fund (RCIF), a longtime investor and partner whose roots with Community Vision stretch back more than 35 years. RCIF was founded by several congregations of Catholic sisters, some of which had already been investing in Community Vision and other community development organizations for years, recognizing they could deepen their impact by pooling resources and investing together.
