ARTS ACTION ALERT! As many of you know Oakland Arts & Culture sector has been cut to the bone! 🦴 When the sale of the Coliseum finalizes, Oakland will now have a new recurring revenue stream from the deal: 6% of ticket sales from the arena and stadium. That money should be earmarked for arts and culture, so we can Oakland can finally have stable funding for artists, youth programs, cultural organizations, and community-based arts across Oakland. City staff estimate the 6% could bring in roughly $3 million a year of sustained funding for the arts.
Tell City Council: dedicate the 6% ticket-revenue share to Oakland arts and culture. Restore local cultural funding, protect staff capacity, and invest in Oakland’s creative future.
Come to the next Oakland City Council Meeting: Tuesday, 07/21, 3PM, City Hall (enter off of 14th Street).
Show up for public comment and have your voice heard.
When: Tuesday, July 21, 2026. The meeting begins at 3:30 p.m., Item S6.25
Where: Oakland City Hall, City Council Chamber, 3rd floor
Agenda item: S6.25, Second Amendment to the Coliseum Complex Sale Agreement.
To comment in person: You must submit a speaker card for Item S6.25 to the City Clerk at the beginning of the meeting. If there are many speakers, comments may be limited to one minute.
